Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're doing a test fit of the Carepod 23x47 Walled Cargo Carrier. That part number is M2205. This is a folding 450 pound weight capacity, 2" hitch adaptable cargo carrier. I already have it on our hitch. The first thing I'm going to do is take a few measurements here. Our ground clearance is going to be first.
We have 23 1/4" of clearance because have that raised shank in the back which is going to lift that carrier even higher than our hitch. Overall to our vehicle, we're adding about 32". Our closest point is going to be on that raised shank and we're going to be about 2" away there. On our Traverse we do have a single passenger side exhaust here. It comes just straight down towards the ground.
We can't really see it because of the spacia here but it does come straight towards the ground so you shouldn't have to worry about carrying any heat sensitive materials in any specific spot on your carrier. You will notice in this position we can't access our back hatch but if we pull out our pins at each corner we can start to fold down our sides here. You can set those down. We'll set our pins off to the side and make sure to put them somewhere safe so we don't lost them. We'll just feed our strap underneath this one side. I find that this is the easiest way to be able to pull the strap through and secure down all of our sides.
We can take our cam buckle strap and we'll secure that in place. This is going to prevent the sides lifting up when we're driving down the road and also when we fold it into our fold-up position with it against our vehicle it's going to prevent hitting our vehicle then. If we check our hatch clearance here you'll see that we don't make any contact with the carrier at this point so we are able to get anything in or out that we may need. We'll close that up and we'll show you the folding feature. We remove our pin and clip here at the center. We can lift straight up on our carrier and reinsert that pin and clip.
This is going to be great for close-quarter parking like parking garages or even a parking lot. We'll check our ground clearance once again. We've got about 18 1/2" of clearance and overall we're adding about 7 3/4" to our vehicle. Our closest point looks to be about 2" away there. Down at our hitch we have a hitch pinning clip holding this in. That is not included when you purchase you're carrier but you can find that on our website, part #PC3. We also have some anti-rattle options on our site as well. That's going to be our completed look at the Carepod 23x47 Folding Cargo Carrier, part #M2205 on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. Here on our test course. We'll start by going through a inaudible 00:04:23. This is going to show us the side-to-side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once I get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, garage or driveway.
