Today, on our 2007 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at the 23 by 47 Carpod walled cargo carrier. That part number is M2205. Now we already have it on our vehicle, so I'm just going to show you a few features of it. The first feature I'd like to show you, it has a black powder coat, so that's going to help from rust and corrosion. Also, it has a mesh bottom, so it's going to keep out pretty much all your dirt and debris. Now this can hold up to 450 pounds.
So now we're going to take a few measurements. Just to show you overall distance first. All right, so overall distance, we've added 36 and a half inches to our vehicle. Now our closest point. I'm looking, that's five inches there.
Then, for our ground clearance. Come back here. And I'm looking at 24 inches here. Now the exhaust on the 2007 Dodge Durango is on your passenger side, and it is actually pointing downward, so you just want to keep that in mind if you have any heat sensitive materials, you may want to place them toward the driver's side itself. Now, with this cargo pod here, it actually breaks down, so we're going to show you how we do that. We have four pins, one on each corner, so we're going to pull the pins out.
And lay that down like that. We're going to go over here, now I'll just put the pins in my pocket until I can put them somewhere else later. Pull here, pull here, lay that down like so. Now, it also comes with a strap, so you can keep it nice and tied down, so we're going to go ahead and pull our strap out. I'm going to thread it through there.
And I'm going to bring the buckle through here. So what I want to do is bring this down here, bring that that way. All right, bring our strap to our buckle, tying it down. Alrighty, so there we go. Nice and tight. Now, when the cargo carrier is in this position, you can have access to your hatch, and you have plenty of room on both sides, so if you need to take anything, put anything in, or take anything out, it should be no problem. Now, it also has another position, which we call our folded position, which would be for storage, if we wanted to be in a parking lot or so, so we're going to take the pin and clip out here, we're going to bring it up, replace our pin and clip. Alrighty, now we're going to take one more measurement for overall distance, and that should be all right. So overall distance now, I'm showing 13 inches here. Now, this is equipped 2 inch hitches only. This does not come with a pin and clip. You can find that on our web site. That part number is PC3. So that's going to complete our look at the Carpod walled cargo carrier, and that part number again is M2205 on today's 2007 Dodge Durango. Let's see how it performs on our test course. Here it is on our test course, first at the slalom area, which simulates side to side action, like turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternating speed bumps, which show you the twisting action, like hitting a pot hole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally, we are at the solid speed bumps, which show the up and down action to simulate a parking garage, or coming out your driveway.
