Review of the Buyers Products Ladder Racks on a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic

Today on our 2019 Ram 1500, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Buyers Products Over-the-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack. It's available in silver and black, so be sure to check out etrailer.com.As you can see, it's going to allow us to carry elongated items over the cab of our truck nicely. We've got plenty of room from the top of our cab to the underside of the bar, so it's not going to make any contact. We don't need to worry about that. But, it's going to be perfect for carrying those long ladders, kayaks, paddleboards, lumber, PVC, really anything you can put up there. The overall length is about 134". It's about 35" high from the top of the truck bed rail.

And, it's about 76" wide. Again, more than enough room to carry really anything we want, up and over our bed.Like most over-the-cab ladder racks, it does have side rails. Ours are about 7-1/2" high from the top of the rail. This is going to prevent our gear from sliding off the crossbars, that is. They also double as tie down points, so we can secure our cargo. It features three crossbars.

Each includes adjustable load stops. You see here how they easily slide along the crossbar. This is going to prevent our cargo from shifting side to side. These also double as tie downs. That way you can pick up your favorite strap here at etrailer.com, pass this through and secure your cargo. If your truck bed is filled with a bunch of tools or gear, as you can imagine, it's going to be difficult to carry ladders in the back.

Normally, those go in first, and then the rest of your stuff piles on top, because they're so large. And it's unsafe to carry ladders, because they usually hang out past your tailgate, unless you want to tie them down. But with the ladder rack in place, you're not going to have any issues. You've got use of your entire truck bed with all of your long equipment up top. Now, the way it secures is just two J-hooks per upright, connects to the underside of our truck bed rail. And once everything's all tightened down, it's a nice secure fit.

As you can see, I'm shaking the entire truck there. There's no movement. It's nice and solid. Now, the whole thing's made out of aluminum. It has a 100, excuse me, an 800-pound weight capacity. And since it's made out of aluminum, we don't need to worry about any rust or corrosion. All of the hardware is also stainless steel. During the assembly, I do recommend using some anti-seize. That way, the stainless steel hardware doesn't get bound up as you're tightening it.For the assembly, it's going to take you a few hours. You can get an extra set of hands to help you put it together. And then finally lift it in place on your truck bed. But after that, it's going to be fairly lightweight, so you can move it from truck to truck, or leave it in place, whatever you'd like to do.Now, there's a, like I said, it's just J-hooks. There's no drilling required. So it's going to be fairly easy to set in place, and then clamp down. Then you can get on your way.But with that being said, that's going to complete our test fit of the Buyers Products Over-the-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack, on our 2019 Ram 1500.
