Review and How to Install the Buyers Products 6-LED Beacon Light with Tall Lens

Hey guys, it's Randy here at Today, we're going to be taking a look at a beacon style warning light. Of course, as you can see, this one's amber from Buyers. Now, this is a temporary style beacon light. This has a magnet mount. It has the availability on the bottom for the one-inch pipe mount.

Or you can permanently mount it, as well. They give you everything you'll need to do that.I think the light's going to be perfect for a lot of those situations where it's either required for certain standards or you just want your truck to be visible, or as you drive around, you want to see it, whether it's security situations, construction sites, mining, whatever your case may be. As you can see, this one gives you a five flash on and off. So it's going to flash five times, goes off, flashes five times, and goes off. Uses six LEDs, which I really like LED lighting.

I think it's a cleaner, brighter light, and you don't have to worry about bulbs. You're not going to have to change any bulbs. They don't have the old filaments or anything. They just seem to last longer. They use less power and they're a little bit brighter.

So I really like the LED style. Now, for your mounting options, you'll have the pad. If you're going to be permanently mounting this to a flat surface, kind of like what we've got here. We mounted this onto our Buyers Kabgard beacon light holder, which I think that's a really cool way to do it. And then you'll have this scuff pad if you're going to be using the magnet, which is a nice strong magnet. We'll take a look at that in just a minute on the bottom of it.

And this just goes up there on your truck so it's not going to cause any scratches or scuffs. And then it's also going to come with the hardware that we need here. You can see it came with the bolt, came with the nut, and the little lock washer. I provided my own flat washer there. But the nut and the little lock washer that comes with it will be provided in the kit for you. Now, let's take a look at the other end of it, the plug and the switch that we've got. It works off just a real nice, simple 12-volt plug. So let's head inside and take a look at that now. Here, you can see our plug. This is attached to a 10 foot cable, so that gives us tons of room. We can run it through our door jamb and get it in here. Something else I like about this design, I don't know if you noticed it or not, but instead of the wire coming straight out of the end, it's angled off to the side there. So you see with it meeting at that angle, it's not sticking out here in the way. We can angle this down, run it back along our seat, wherever you want to run it. And it's not really causing us any kind of interference. And then it's just really quick and easy. You can see the little light there is going to indicate when it's on for you. Light goes off when it's off. The overall quality of the plug is really nice. It doesn't have that cheap feel that you can sometimes get out of these. Nice spring here on the front. And, of course, inside there we're going to have the fuse. It's easily replaceable in case something we're to happen, shorts out or something. Just replace that fuse in there and we won't have to worry about it.Now, while permanent mounting is a good option in some situations, I like the temporary aspect of this. I think it's very easy just to run this down and around the jamb. Those gaskets are going to give you plenty of protection. You really won't have to worry about your wire at all. Now, you certainly don't want that to get caught up in any of your strikers or any of your hinges, so be careful with it. But as long as you're going over a gasket like that, I think you're going to be in real good shape.I think it's a nice, large visible light. The mounting options are pretty readily available here. You can see for the one inch pipe, that's going to be right here. That'll just thread on if you already have the existing pipe. It's not included, of course. Here, we've got our magnet and that's where we put that scuffer pad over and allow it to just easily attach to the roof or whatever else you're going to attach it to. And then you can see the flange there with the recess slots there for the permanent, or using the hardware that's provided with an option.I think all in all, it's going to be a really good light. It's going to serve its purpose pretty well. We do have these available that you can hard wire in, so you can put your own switch in the dash if you choose to do it that way. We also have some that have different flash patterns. So just depending on your situation, one of those might be a little bit better option for you. Some of them you can momentarily hit the button to switch them to the different patterns. Some of them will just have two wires so it's just going to come on in the same pattern. So just depending on your situation, pick up that. But all in all, I think it's going to be a really good light. Definitely going to serve the purpose and keep everything nice and highly visible.
