Review of the BoatBuckle Pro Series Kwik-Lok Gunwale Tie-Down Strap

Today we're going to be taking a look at the BoatBuckle Pro Series Gunwale Tie-Downs, part number IMF17637. The BoatBuckle Tie-Down is going to be great for securing your boat to your trailer. The particular one we're working with today is a sizable tie-down. It is 2 inches wide, 20 ft long. That's going to give us all the length that we need for multiple sized boats and different trailer configurations. The strap itself has a 12,000 pound break strength with a 400 pound safe working load limit. It's made out of a seat belt-like material so it's going to be durable and sturdy.

Our hooks are a vinyl-coated steel. They're going to be sturdy. They're also going to protect our finish. They also have a spring loaded keeper here so you don't have to worry about them backing off. A buckle has a nice coating here so it's going to be easy to grip when we're releasing or securing our tension. The tie-downs include a hook and loop keeper that's going to help us keep our straps secured.

The keepers also have 1 other feature. They have the boat buckle logo here which reflects light to make it visible at night. Now that we've gone over some features I'll go ahead and show you how to attach the tie-down. It's going to work out best if you have an attachment point like this on your trailer. The manufacturer does also mention you can loop it around your frame and attach the strap back to itself. We're going to go ahead and release our latch there and put the strap hook through our attachment point, and then take the majority of our strap and pass it over to the other side. Then we've got quite a bit of extra strap, so I'm going to go ahead and take some of that out here.

Then I'm going to take this side of my strap, repeat the same process. With both of my hooks secured now I can go ahead and take out the remaining excess in our straps. You've got to make sure that that's fairly straight. Now we're going to go ahead and finish taking out our excess. It is a sizable strap. We're working with a smaller boat today.

It is going to work just fine. It's obviously going to work great for your larger boats as well. That tension that we've created, our buckle is going to hold that in place so we can just rotate our buckle down. It's going to keep that tension in place. Take our remaining slack which is actually almost about half of the strap in our case, but that's okay. Bundle it up. Place it here in our keeper and bring our hook and loop around so that this isn't flapping in the wind or dragging behind us as we go down the road. That's going to complete the look at the Gunwale Tie-Down from BeltBuckle, part number IMF17637.
