Review of the Atwood B-64 Overbed Folding Ball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Atwood B-64 folding hitch ball for gooseneck trailers. With a 25,000 pound capacity, part number is AT75064.Now something that I like about this setup is that they've put a little bit of pressure on this door when it's in the closed position so it's not going to flap around. It's not going to generate any noise. Whether we've got our ball in the upward position or downward, you can see that little bit of resistance there, that again holds that nice and steady. Our ball's locked in position very, very well. That's how you can tell when yours is wearing out.

You'll start getting some movement in the ball itself. That door's going to be really nice at keeping everything from moving around and keeping it very quiet. An additional feature that I like about the Atwood is going to be that we've got the black powder coat finish on all the steel surfaces. Rust and corrosion are going to be very minimal if at all. This gives us our 2-5/16" gooseneck ball that we're able to hook up with in our flat bed trailer. When we're done with our ball, what we can do is just rotate that over our down into the stored position.

As you can see, that's going to get our flat bed back to the flat area so we don't have anything sticking up or a ball that we have to contend with. It's a really nice, easy solution to get a gooseneck on your flat bed without having to have the ball sticking up all the time. This also gives us nice large safety chain connection points here. Those, again, are going to recess down when not in use, but pretty easy to lift up there and get our chains connected to. They're going to have a nice wide throat on them. It's a good size chain link, so just about any size chain you should be able to connect. Now with weight capacities on the ball, it's a 5,000 pound vertical load limit.

That's the maximum downward force we can put on it. It gives us a 25,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's going to be the total weight of your trailer, then anything that you might load up on it. Of course you don't want to exceed the rating on your vehicle, so keep that in mind. Whatever your truck's rated for, that's what this system's going to be rated for, as long as it doesn't exceed what the system's designed for.Now if you don't already have one of these installed in your bed, you will need the underbed installation kit that you want to be that you use.

That's going to give you your side supports and the front supports that run side to side, as well as your frame bracket so you can get everything tied together really well. Now if you already have one installed, what you'll have to do is just remove the four bolts, pull the old one out, and put the new one in.Now we can show you how to connect your standard gooseneck trailer. You'll of course want to have your gooseneck coupler open and lower it down onto the ball. Now we'll push our coupler into its closed position, bring our safety chains in. We can get those connected on each side. Then your breakaway kit you also want to connect to the safety chain connection point. You don't want this connected to your chain or your hook, just like that. That's going to complete our look at the Atwood B-64 folding hitch ball for gooseneck trailers, part number AT75064.
