How to Install the Truxedo TruXport Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover on a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on this 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, we're going to install part number TX271101; this is a Truxedo Truxport Soft Rollup Tonneau Cover. First up, go ahead and make sure your truck is clean. We'll go ahead and open up the tailgate and we'll get our rails ready. To get our rails ready, we need to install a seal that goes over this part here on the corner. There's an adhesive, so let's go ahead and peel them off and put them into place. We'll go ahead and put our tonneau cover up on the front rail. The round section goes towards the front of the cab.

We align the seal with roughly this edge of the front rail. We'll get it even on both sides. Let it sit for now. We'll take this corner and we'll insert into this corner right here. Push those guys together until you scoot it back up. This is our driver side; let's do the same thing on our passenger side.

Now would be a good time to take a moment and inspect the seal and the truck bed, making the adjustments as necessary.Putting on the contour of a truck bed, you may have to roll it up just a little more forward to make contact, or you may have to install an additional seal underneath which does not come with the kit. Let's go ahead and put some clamps toward the back here. We'll install them underneath the rail and over the top, and scoot them back as far as possible. We'll go ahead and take up some slack with the clamp to hold them in place. Take a close look on the inside corner here, there's some ridges for where the teeth on the clamp can engage and help hold it in place. Keep in that in mind and we just get it finger tight, and basically take up the slack.

I'll have to make some adjustments after this anyway. We'll do one on each side. We'll go ahead and make sure our tonneau cover is even from left to right, maybe go from the inside edge to this edge of the rail. Once again, double check to make sure the front rail is pushed up even on both sides. Then we'll go ahead and place the rest of the clamps in the bed of the truck. We'll space them out as far apart as possible. Driver's side done; do the same thing on the passenger side.

We'll go ahead and tighten down our clamps up on the front. Once again, you want to make sure it's even up in the corner on both sides the way you want it. Then we'll go ahead and unroll tonneau cover and check our adjustment back here. Now this edge here is going to go into this channel right here on both sides.I'm just going to just pull down enough on it just to give it some tension. We need to gap around 1/8 of an inch on both sides. I probably have to take this and push it in a little bit to make sure it gets that. You may want an extra set of hands on the other side because ours is breaking apart.Once you have that measurement of about 1/8 inch on both sides, then we go ahead and tighten down the rear clamps. We'll go ahead and roll up the tonneau cover up towards the front, and then we'll go ahead and tighten down the clamps in the center. To tighten down the clamps first, we're going to use a 1/2-inch socket; a 1/2-inch wrench will work as well.Let's go ahead and roll it back down. Now we'll cover up these corner pieces as well; have one on each side. Let's go ahead and take our tonneau cover and roll it back in. Then let's go ahead and pull it down until it securely clicks. You just want to may use both hands when you pull it down because there is some tension on there.Make sure both sides click. Then we'll tighten up the sides, maybe just a little bit of pull in the center, and then just bring your hand back and forth. We'll go ahead and close the tailgate, and make sure it works fine with the tonneau cover. Let's go back underneath and we'll show you how to unlatch it.To unlatch your tonneau cover, there's a lever right here. Just pull down and it pops up. There is one on each side. There's some tension on here, so it might be a good idea to keep your hand on the tonneau cover as you unlatch it. When you use the truck as a truck or, in this case, when a customer uses to pull his gooseneck trailer, we'll simply roll it up and tie it up against the cab. With that, that's all it takes to install our tonneau cover on our truck. There you have it for part number TX271101. This is a Truxedo Truxport Soft Rollup Tonneau Cover on our 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. .
