How to Install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness on a 2019 Kia Sorento

Today on our 2019 Kia Sorento we're going to be installing Tekonsha's T-One vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector. This wiring harness is going to provide you with all the necessary lighting, which includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps, so you'll be DOT compliant in all states. What's nice about this is that it's custom fit vehicle so it plugs directly into your factory tow package, making it a nice, quick, easy install that requires no cutting or splicing. The module that comes equipped with it will help protect your vehicle from any overcurrent or shorts that occurs in your trailer by shutting down those circuits, privilege any damage to your vehicle. We'll begin our installation under the vehicle on the driver side at the rear. We're going to need to remove the undercover located here to access our factory wiring connectors. There's two pins that hold it in.

You're going to use a flat bladed screwdriver or trim panel tool to pop out the center, and then you can pull the pin out. Once you've removed both pins, you'll simply pull down on the panel. It is connected at the top on some studs, but it just pulls right off of them. Your two connectors located here are your factory wiring connectors. You'll want to remove the dummy plugs in the end.

You'll simply push in on the release and pull it out. You'll do the same thing on the other one here. Your release tabs are going to look like that. They're going to stick out a little bit and they'll move when you press on them. Same with the other one here.To install your wiring, you simply take your new harness, plug it into where the dummy plugs used to be.

Now we can take our excess wiring and zip tie it up. We're also going to zip tie our module up. When we do this, we're going to run that through that hole there. We can then route our four-pole connector over to our hitch. We'll secure it with the dust cap to keep it in place where we want it.

We can use zip ties that come in our kit to tie up the rest of our wiring. You can now reinstall your panel. Now in order for your wiring to go through, it may be necessary to make some small trim in it for the wire to pass through. We're not going to be trimming our panel today, so you could also choose to just not reinstall the panel. It's not going to hurt anything to be off.You can now plug in your trailer or a tester and verify everything's working properly. You want to make sure you have your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. With everything working properly, we're ready to hook up and hit the road. That completes our installation of Tekonsha's T-One vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector on our 2019 Kia Sorento.
