Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, were going to install part number, 118555 from Tow Ready. First thing we need to do is go ahead and open up the trunk and remove the threshold panel. To remove our threshold we need to remove the liner at the bottom and then well pull out the four plastic rivets. Then well pull them straight from the bottom, you loosen it up, and then pull from the top. Now go ahead and remove the plastic rivets from our liner going towards the corners, towards the wiring for the taillights. Okay we have our driver side loosened up and well repeat the same process over on the passenger side.
Going to the taillights there will be a couple of connection points that we can add our T-1 connector to. Well start on the driver side and work our way over to the passenger side. Well take you back to the connector and then well install wiring T-connector with the yellow wire. Then well go ahead and wrap our wire to the other side to the passenger side with the T-connector with the green wire. Now well go ahead and take the white wire to green terminal and go ahead and ground that to the body, then well find a location for our module.
Well clean off the spot with sheet metal and use adhesive to hold it in place. Now well go ahead and connect the black wire with our kit to the yellow bug connector thats next to the module and then well go ahead and run that black wire out of the vehicle body through an existing grommet on the side. Once we have the grommet removed, well turn it inside out and cut off the one end of it, so we can have an opening for our wire, and run our wire through, and then well reinstall the grommet. Now with our wire ran outside of the body of the vehicle well go ahead and run it up towards the battery, well make sure we stay away from anything that moves such as suspension or steering components and when you get up to the front or anything hot like the exhaust. Well go ahead and route it to our battery and well go ahead and secure the wires, and then add our fuse holder.
When we add a fuse holder well cut it in half, use the bug connector to connect to our black wire and the other half well get a ring terminal where we connect it to the positive side of the battery. Okay our fuse holder is installed we can go ahead and add our fuse and we can go ahead tuck it out of the way. We can go over to the back of the vehicle and reinstall the interior components. Then well go ahead and test our wiring with the light tester and then you can try it on the trailer. With our wire harness installed we can show how its used.
First off if gets stored with the spare tire when its not in use and when we need to use it, just pull it out and shut the hatch on the wire. The door feels thick enough it wont hurt the wire, just pull out a little bit and make sure you stay away from the latch in the center and then shut the hatch, then pull out what you need to your trailer. With that it will finish it for our install part number, 11855 from Tow Ready on our 2012 Chevrolet Sonic.
