How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Toyota Sienna

Today on our 2015 Toyota Sienna we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Draw Tite Max Frame Custom Fit Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver. Offering the 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening, it's part number is 76112.Speaker 2: Here's what this hitch looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, it's nicely hidden to all you really see is the receiver tube and the safety chain connection points. Here you can see how well-hidden that cross tube is, just up behind this lower part of the fascia, which is what's going to be the big differentiating factor between this and the other hitches available for this vehicle. This hitch features the 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening with nice welded on reinforcement collar around it. Features 5/8 inch hitch pin hole, which is going to be good for securing all your Class III accessories. It also has the smaller 1/2 inch hole, which is going to be good with a J pin stabilization system, which is going to help eliminate some of the shake and rattle between the shank and the receiver tube for a quieter ride.

It features the rolled steel safety chain connection points, so it's going to be nice and easy to secure any safety chain that you may have. This hitch features a 525 pound max tongue weight rating, which is going to be the max total force going down on the inside of the receiver tube here. It's going to feature a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating, which is the total weight of the trailer and anything that you may have on it. What I like most about this hitch is the ground clearance that it's going to give us. I also like how well hidden it is to give a nice appearance on the vehicle. Now let's give you a few measurements to help assist you with your selection of hitch mounted accessories such as ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers.

The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost of the rear bumper is 4 inches. The distance from the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 12 inches. Now let's show you how to install this hitch. First thing we'll need to do to begin our installation is we'll need to remove this lower panel. Going to start with the five 10 millimeter bolts that go across the rear. You can also use a Philips head screwdriver to get these out.

There's a Philips head screw here just behind the driver side wheel that we'll need to remove. There'll be multiple plastic rivets that you need to remove. You can use a trim panel tool or a flathead screwdriver. You'll want to work the center section out, and then the rest of it should pop right out. There's four of these large plastic fasteners, which you can use a large Philips head screwdriver to remove. You'll probably need to apply a little bit of downward pressure in order to make sure that they come off a little bit easier.

We'll take that and set that off to the side. Now, with this exhaust hanger right here, I'll put a little bit of spray lubricant on the rubber isolator to make removal a little bit easier. I'm going to take a pair of channel lock pliers to begin working that isolator off of that hanger. You could also use a pry bar. That's going to let the exhaust hang and just give us a little bit of extra room for the installation. Our three fasteners that'll be on each side are going to have these plastic covers over them that we'll need to remove. They're just stuck up onto the bottom of the frame rail. I'll just use a flathead screwdriver. Begin peeling that back, and it'll come right off. We'll do that same thing for the other side. Now we'll take one of our 12 millimeter bolts that comes with the kit, and we'll just start it up in that each of our six fastener locations to make sure that it threads in nice and there's nothing in the threads that's going to inhibit us from being able to put it up in there. Now, in order to get our hitch up into place, it is going to tuck up behind our fascia here. In order to help us with that, we can take these tabs and just bend them down. That'll give us more room to be able to get our hitch up into place. There's going to be one of those tabs on each side. It's a good idea to grab an extra set of hands, and you want to feed it up over the exhaust first. Then work it back, and then you'll need to pull the fascia tabs down so that you can get your cross tube for your hitch up into place. Then we'll use 12 millimeter bolt with lock washer and flat washer, put it up into position and get that bolt started so it'll hold the hitch. Once we've got one on each side, then we'll get the rest of our hardware started. Now I'll use a 3/4 inch socket and begin tightening all the hardware. Now we'll want to be sure to go back to all of our fasteners and use a torque wrench to torque them down to the specifications listed in the instructions. Now, let's remember to bend our tabs back up into place. Now we'll reinstall our exhaust. Now, I've marked my underbody panel according to the instructions, so that way I'll be able to trim it out in order for the receiver to come out from underneath through this panel. Now with our underbody panel trimmed, we can reinstall it onto our vehicle. That's going to complete our installation of the Draw Tite Custom Fit Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76112 on our 2015 Toyota Sienna.
