How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Volvo C70

Today on our 2012 Volvo C70, well be installing the Curt Htich, part number C11065. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 9. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 9. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a bike rack or a cargo carrier.

Now lets go ahead with the installation. First before we can install the hitch, well need to lower the exhaust. To do this, well remove the two fasteners securing the metal bracket to the frame on each side for a total of four fasteners. We can go ahead and point out the attachment points. There will be three on each side for a total of six.

Each process we do here on the driver side were going to repeat it identically on the passenger side. Now with the fasteners removed, we can go ahead and pull the bracket down out of the way so that we can feed the hitch up over the exhaust. As we bring our hitch into position, well use the carriage bolt and block along with the nut to secure the hitch to the tow hooks. Then well bring the exhaust hangers back up into position and secure the hanger and hitch, sandwiching the hitch between the hanger with the new 8mm bolt and conical tooth washer. The teeth of the washer will face the hitch.

Now with all our hardware in place, well go ahead and tighten it down. Next well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with the hitch secured and torqued to specifications, that will complete the install of our Curt Hitch, part number C11065 on our 2012 Volvo C70.
