Today on this 2012 Kia Sedona were going to install part number c13345 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed on the vehicle. Next well go ahead and give you some measurements that will help out in selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be 12-1/4 inches and from the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper will be 5-1/2 inches. Now well go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First thing we are going to do is go ahead and lower the exhaust and get it out of the way.
We can spray down the rubber hanger on the tailpipe with some lubricant and well go ahead and pry it off.Next thing is easier to see, were actually going to go up further to the tailpipe and remove the tailpipe from the muffler, now you dont have to do this, but it just makes things easier to see. Now that you get the tailpipe out of the way, well go ahead and point out the threaded holes on the bottom of the frame of the vehicle and this is where the hitch will line up. Well spray the threads with some lubricant and run a tube brush through there to help clean out dirt and debride, that will be part number 814092. Now older the vehicle gets the more work this will take and in over years it possibly may need a thread tap to help clean out threads. With all our threads cleaned up we can go ahead and install the hitch, its definitely a good idea to have an extras set of hands to help hold the hitch up into position while we install the hardware. When we install the hardware well make sure the teeth on the concial toothed washers are pointed up towards the hitch.
Once we have all the hardware loosely installed we can go ahead and tighten down the bolts and then torque them down as specified in the instructions. With all our hardware installed and torqued down according to the instruction we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust and with that, that will finish it for our install of part number c13345 from Curt on our 2012 Kia Sedona.
