Today on our 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, we'll be installing Hidden Hitch part number 90212. Next we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 3 1/2 inches. From the top of the inside of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 13 inches. This will assist you with accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. First before we install the hitch, we'll go ahead and point out the attachment points.
There are total of four attachment points, these will be weld nuts in the bottom of the frame rail, two on each side. Now before we attempt to install the hitch, we'll first go ahead and clean out the weld nuts. Using a little spray lubricant and a half inch nylon tube brush, part number 814092, we'll thoroughly clean the threads out, from any rust, dust, dirt or debris build up. Note that at extreme cases, you may need to use a thread tab in order to clean out the weld nuts. Now with the weld nut cleaned out, we'll go and take one of the new fasteners and thread it into the weld nuts to make sure it will go nice and easily.
Now we'll go ahead and repeat the same process for other three attachment points. Next we're ready to go ahead and install the hitch. To install the hitch we'll be using the new 10mm bolt and 7/16 conical toothed washer. The teeth of the washer will face the hitch. Now its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install the fasteners.
We'll feed the passengers side up over the exhaust and then bring the drivers side into position. We'll install each fastener finger tight until we have them all installed. Now we'll go ahead and tighten them down. Next we'll torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions and that will complete our install of Hidden Hitch part number 90212 on our 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe.
