How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2010 Honda CR-V

Today, on this 2010 Honda CRV, we're going to install part number 13555 Curb. This is what the hitch looks like once installed in the vehicle. Next, we'll use some measurements to help you on selecting some accessories such as the ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. On top of this opening down to the ground, we've got 15 1/4 inches. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the edge of the bumper will be about 2 3/4 inches. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.

First thing we need to do is go ahead and lower exhaust. There are two rubber hangers above the exhaust. Then, we'll spray on some lubricant and we'll go ahead and pry them off. That will lower the exhaust, that way giving us more working room. All right, next, we'll go ahead and locate the fasteners in the frame where the hitch will be attached to.

There are two threaded holes towards the bumper. We'll clean them out with some lubricant and then inaudible 00:00:47 tube brush. That'd be part number 814092. Go ahead and take one of the hitch balls. Go ahead and thread it make sure it's okay.

Now, the older the vehicle gets, the more time this will take and possibly need a thread tap to help clean out the threads. Let's go ahead and put a U bolt through the tow loop and then we can go ahead and lift our hitch in position. It's a good idea to have extra set of hands to help fill up the hitch while installing the hardware. The hardware will go into the frame. We'll get the electric bolt and a conical washer.

We'll make sure that the teeth on the conical washers are always facing towards the hitch. All right, now go ahead and install the fasteners on the U bolt and now get the two blanched knots. While the hardware is loosely installed, we'll go ahead and tighten down the bolts and then torque them down as specified in the instructions. Then, we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. That'll finish it for our install part number 13555 from Curb on our 2010 Honda CRV.
