How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Today on this 2009 Hyundai Veracruz were going to install part number 75532 from Draw Tite. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed on the vehicle. Next well go ahead and give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be 13 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper will be three and a quarter inches. Now well go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.

The first thing we need to do is go ahead and lower our exhaust. Well spray down the rubber hangers with some lubricant and then we go ahead and pry them off. The next thing we do is remove the tow hook. There are two bolts on the bottom of the frame we have to remove. Were actually going to remove the exhaust on the passengers side just to make things a little easier to see and a little easier to work on.

There will be two nuts in the exhaust. Well spray those down with some lubricant and work them off. With the exhaust removed we can see the heat shield. There will be four nuts we have to remove. Well pull it down out of the way, and then well remove the last bolt for the tow hook.

We can go ahead and reinstall the heat shield, then we can go ahead and reinstall our exhaust. Now well go ahead and turn our attention over to the drivers side. It uses threaded holes just like the tow hook used, but were going to take a moment to clean them out before we install our hardware. Were going to use some spray lubricant and a tube brush to help clean out the threads. Thats going to be part number 814092.

Well go ahead and test the threads to make sure we can install the hardware, and then we can go ahead and install the hitch. When you install the hitch its definitely a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help hold it up. Well install the bolts and the conical tooth washers. When we install the conical tooth washer, we want to make sure that the teeth are pointing toward the hitch. Once all the hardware is loosely installed we can tighten them down and torque them down as specified in the instructions. With that, that will finish it for our install of part number 75532 from Draw Tite on our 2009 Hyundai Veracruz.
