How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country

Today on our 2008 Chrysler Town and Country, we'll be installing Hidden Hitch, part number 90169. This is what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Next we're going to give you a couple of measurements to assist your selecting accessories for your new hitch such as a ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is 7 inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 13 inches. Now we'll go ahead with the installation. Now to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and identify our attachment points. We'll have a total of four attachment points, two on each side.

These attachment points will be well nuts built into the frame by the manufacturer and we'll also be reusing the manufacturer's hardware. Now to gain easier access to the passenger's side, we'll go ahead and lower the exhaust. To lower the exhaust, we'll remove the fastener that secures the metal hanger to the frame starting with the rear hanger just behind the rear axle and then we'll move just forward of the rear axle and remove the second fastener. Now with the exhaust lowered, we can go ahead and remove the fasteners in the frame. The fasteners we'll be removing is starting from the end of the frame nearest to the bumper. Once we have them both removed, we can go ahead and repeat the same process on the other side. Now we're ready to go ahead and put our hitch in place. We'll take the hitch and feed the passenger's side up over the exhaust.

Then we'll bring the driver's side up into place and reinstall the manufacturer's fasteners. We'll install each fasteners finger tight until we have all four back in place. Be mindful before you tighten down the passenger's side to make sure if the vehicle is equipped with a rear air conditioning system that the A/C line is out of the way and does not get sandwiched between the hitch and the frame. Once we have them back in place, we'll go ahead and tighten them down and then torque to the specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with our hitch secured and torqued to the specifications, we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. With that this will complete the install of our Hidden Hitch, part number 90169 on our 2008 Chrysler Town and Country. .
