Today on this 2006 Kia Sedona were going to install part number 70761 from Hidden Hitch. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed on the vehicle. Next well give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper is going to be about four and a half inches, and from the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be about 12 inches. Now well go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. The first thing well do, well go ahead and show you where the mounting points are on the frame.
There will be three threaded holes located on the bottom edge of the frame. Were looking at the drivers side. Those will be the same on the passengers side, however the exhaust tube will be below it. Now well go ahead and clean out the threads. Were going to use a tube brush and some lubricant to clean out the threads.
The tube brush part number is 814092. With the threads cleaned out well go ahead and test it with one of the hitch bolts. Well make sure that the bolt threads in, then we can go ahead and continue with the next one. One thing to note, the older a vehicle is the more dirt and debris will concentrate in the threads and it will take longer to clean out. With everything cleaned out well go ahead and install the hitch.
Well take the passengers side of the hitch and put it over the exhaust, and then pick up the other side and push up tot eh drivers side of the frame rail. Then well install our hardware. When we install our hardware well have our conical tooth washer and bolt. Well make sure the teeth on the conical tooth washer always face up toward the hitch. Well get the drivers side started, then well go over to our passengers side.
To give ourselves a little bit extra room, were actually going to use a strap to pull the exhaust over about a half an inch, then well have a straight shot at eh fasteners. Well hold the hitch up and then thread in the fasteners. Once all our hardware is installed well go ahead and tighten them down, and then torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. Then well go ahead and remove the strap from the exhaust and were already finished. That will do it for part number 70761 from Hidden Hitch on our 2006 Kia Sedona.
