Today, on this 1998 Chevrolet Suburban, were going to install part number C14029 from Curt. All right, this is what the hitch looks like once its install on the vehicle. Next, well give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories; such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening, down to the ground will be about 18-1/4, and from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper is going to be about 2. Now Ill go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. The first thing well do is go ahead and point out the mounting locations on the frame.
There will be three holes on each side. Next, well go ahead and clean out the holes with a drill bit. This way it will make the hardware installation a little bit easier. Now we can go ahead and start installing the hardware. Youll see our block and our bolt, which will be on the inside of the frame, and go through the top of the hitch, then well have our flank nut on the very bottom.
On our drivers side, well start closest to the bumper. Well take our block and our bolt, and put it on the side edge of the frame, and run it through the hole. Then our next two bolts, theres a gap between the gas tank and the frame that we can run our bolt leader through, and then run our bolts into place. Well run our bolt leader through, and out the opening, and then push our block onto the wire. Then well throw on a bolt and pull it through the frame.
You want to make sure that the block is sitting centered in the frame. Youll know its correct if the bolt is pointing straight down. All right, and our final bolt going towards the front will basically repeat the same process. All right, on our passenger side, once again, well start close to the bumper and work our way towards the front. However, on this side, well take a bolt leader, run it over the top of the frame, and then install our hardware.
Well take our block, well then slide it down the wire, and into place, and then throw on a bolt and pull it through. Well go ahead and repeat for the last bolt. At this point, we can go ahead and install the hitch. Now, youll want to have an extra set of hands to help hold up the hitch while you install it. Be careful that you dont push the bolts in as well when you put the hitch into place. Once we have all the hardware installed, then we can go ahead and tighten down the bolts, and then well torque them down as justified in the instructions. With the bolts torqued down, that will finish it for our installed part number C14029 from Curt, on our 1998 Chevrolet Suburban. .
