How to Install the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains on a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at our Titan Chain alloy snow tire chains, here on our 2021 Volkswagen Jetta. So if you are expecting a lot of extreme weather conditions, maybe there's ice on the road, there's a lot of snow, you're gonna need that extra traction to get through safely. So there's a bunch of different options for the Volkswagen Jetta. I personally think this is one of the best, in terms of it has a diamond pattern, so it covers more of the tire, and it's pretty easy to install. There's no crawling underneath the car or having to reach out behind it.

With you having a very limited clearance behind there, that's very important. Now it's not as premium as some of our other tire chains, so we'll talk about that too. The chains are arranged in a diamond pattern. So compared to your traditional snow tire, ladder style chains, these cover more of the tire. So for those starts or when you have to make the turn after the stop, this is gonna help with that traction.

You also have these square links. Now they are smooth compared to your more premium square links, but they also have the flat ridges. So those ridges help bite into the snow. They're twisted together to help the snow not bunch up on them, plus they're low profile. The link thickness is only 3.7 millimeters.

So low profile is important for the Jetta, because you need something that sits closer to your tire. You have very limited clearance factors. So if you have larger links, you are likely to scratch something up. So there's class S, A, E and this is class S compatible, which means it fits into that low profile specification. So you also have some colorful chains here.

So the colors are there just to help you make those connections, figure out what's next. Or you can just watch my video, where I show you how to install it. But also if by any chance you're not wearing any gloves, don't have any gloves, they are coated. So, you don't wanna be holding the metal chains and this will help you, so that you don't freeze your fingers off. Although please carry around some gloves if possible, for those emergency situations. You can keep them in the case that these chains come in. I like cases like these, it's a soft shell case. You've got your zippers, you've got your support. Very easy to store inside your vehicle. If you're going to certain places, I know Colorado is a big one for this, where you, they require that you have chains in your vehicle at all times, this is a great way to do it. Your case is gonna have two tire chains. You're also gonna have some instructions and then that's where I recommend putting your emergency supplies too. You can put your gloves in there. You can also take a look at our tire chain safety installation kit and that one has a rubber pad, as well as some lights, just to help keep you safe on the road as you install. There's also different size options for the Jetta so double check your tire size. Ours here is 225, 45, R18. It's printed right there on the sidewall. And that number's important. You can use it here at We have a fit guide, you can select that for your Jetta and that gets you the right fit for you. So my personal thoughts about these tire chains is if you're looking for a really good working chain, that still is affordable, this is gonna be a great option for you. You are gonna have to put a little bit of effort, though, into pulling those chains tight. If that's a bit much for you, maybe check out the Konig CG9 tire chains. Those are awesome. They look like this. They have extra features, like more ridges on their links. And they're smaller and easier to use. Definitely an option worth considering. But other than that, I think these are gonna be a great deal for you, especially with how easy they are to install. In fact, let's take a look at that. So when you get your tire chains, I highly recommend just laying them out in your garage and double checking that everything looks good. You don't have any tangles. And then that way too, you're also familiar with getting your tire chains onto your tires before you're stranded by the side of the road and trying to figure it out in the snow. So, everything looks good here. No tangles, no brakes. Also make sure it's facing the right way. You want the flat part of the chain on the tire and the hooked portion away from the tire. With that all in place, then grab one half and bring it around, so that you can grab it on the other side. So here I like to just comb through. I've found it easier to install them that way. Now we're gonna make connections up top. So see these hooks here This hook goes into the chain, and you pull it to secure it. We're gonna do that up above the tire. So get up there, make those connections, pull and leave and drop behind your tire. Come up front, make it the front connection. Bring these chains around and make the bottom connection. So that's gonna be this long gray chain that goes in through that lever. See how it just ratchets and gets the tension Then you're gonna get this top bungee hook. This comes down and then that secures it. So just like that, super fast, super easy. Do the same thing on the other side. Afterwards, drive forward or backwards a couple feet, double check that everything looks good, and now you're ready to brave the snow. And that right there was a look at our Titan Chain alloy snow tire chains, here on a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta..
