Review of the Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Today were working with the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, and were going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex Four hitch mounted bike carrier, part number TH9029. To mount our carrier to our vehicle well insert the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well line up the hitch pin hole, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and then tighten it down with a wrench. Next we want to check for rear vehicle access. Well grab the switch at the base of the bike rack and tilt it down. We want to make sure that we can open the cargo door completely and still access the area, even with the bike rack installed.

Now well put the bike rack back up and go over a few clearance measurements. Weve got about 11 inches of ground clearance from the bottom of the bike rack to the ground. Weve got about two inches of clearance from the closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle. Overall weve added about 13 inches of length to the rear of the vehicle. Were now ready to load up a bike.

To do this well grab the switch at the top of the bike rack and fold the arms out. Well undo the straps at the cradles closest to the vehicle and then grab our bike. Well fit it over the arms of the bike rack and down into the cradles. Then well secure the frame of the bike using the rubber straps. With that done, were all loaded up and ready to hit the road.

Thats it for our test fit of the Thule Vertex Four hitch mounted bike carrier, part number TH9029 on our 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. .
