Review of the Swagman Upright Roof Mounted Bike Rack on a 2013 Mazda 5

Today on our 2013 Mazda 5, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Upright roof bike rack. It's part number S64720. With our Thule Rapid Podium roof rack system already installed on our 5, we'll begin our test fit by placing our bike rack directly onto our load bars here. At the front, we're going to bring one of our U bolts around the underside of our load bar, up through our carrier, and we'll thread on 2 wing nuts loosely for now just to hold it in place. We'll then take a second U bolt on the other side here on the head of our carrier, and thread 2 wing nuts onto it as well. We'll then tighten down all 4 of our wing nuts to secure the front of our rack to our vehicle. With the front secure, we can move to the rear.

Hear at the rear, our U bolt's going to go down through our rack. We'll want to check and make sure that we have a threaded portion coming down on both sides. We'll then place on the black metal plate and thread on 2 of our wing nuts. We'll then tighten both of our wing nuts down to secure our rear clamp. Now with our clamp secure, we'll go ahead and undo our rear wheel strap, our front wheel strap, and also loosen our center frame clamp.

We can then grab our bike, place it up onto our bike rack. Now we're going to secure it first using the center frame clamp here. To do this, we'll simply lift on the clamp arm and move our bike forward until the clamp engages our frame. Then we'll secure it by tightening down our black knob here. With that secure, we can now move to each wheel, secure it with our straps. Just like that, our bike's loaded up, and we're ready to hit the road.

We'll take it out on our test course. We've got a slalom course to kind of test the side to side. We've got an alternating bumps course, and also a solid bumps course that we'll be able to go over. We'll first go through our slalom course. We'll also take it over our alternating bumps, to show how it moves side to side.

We'll now go over some solid bumps to show how it moves up and down. That will complete today's test fit of the Swagman Upright, part number S64720, on our 2013 Mazda 5. .
