Today on our 2008 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the SportRack 2-Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier part number A30901. Now, to begin our test fit, we've already removed the 2-inch adaptor, so we'll slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With the anti-rattle bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. At this point we can go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack measures 17 inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle here at the wheel loop measures 6 and a quarter inches. We'll now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform. and open our cargo door. As you can see we can gain access to the cargo area even with this bike rack secured to the vehicle.
At this point, we're almost ready to load our bike. We'll need only to undo the wheel straps and make sure that our vertical bar clamp is fully extended. We'll place the bike into the carrier and bring the vertical bar up, remembering to reinstall the pin holding the bar in place. We'll then bring the clamp down over the top bar of our bike, securing the bike to the bike rack. We can move back down to the wheel loops for we'll put the straps through the wheels and secure them on the other side. That's it, our bike is loaded, we're ready to head on down the road.
That completes our test fit of the SportRack 2-Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier part number A30901 on our 2008 Ford Edge. .
