How to Install the SeaSucker Roof Rack on a 2016 Nissan Altima

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2016 Nissan Altima, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the SeaSucker Monkey Bars roof rack system. Part number 298-SX6000. The SeaSucker Monkey Bars are gonna allow you to carry roof-mounted accessories on your Nissan Altima. Things like bike racks, kayak carriers, roof boxes, baskets, and more. The crossbars are 48 inches long. They have a round bar design; they're gonna be more aerodynamic than your traditional square bars, but they're not gonna be as aerodynamic as your aero bars style. So there may still be some wind noise and drag. The round bars are gonna work with your traditional clamp-on accessories.

Keep in mind that the diameter is an inch and a quarter. The cross bars are held in place by a total of six vacuum cups. Now, each vacuum cup has a pull strength of 210 pounds so you can be sure that your accessories are gonna be safe on top of your Nissan Altima's roof. One of my favorite things about this roof rack system is how versatile it is. For one, being able to easily install and remove it, and two, being able to switch it to multiple vehicles. Compared to a traditional roof rack system that uses a clamp or clip style, those are gonna be specific to that vehicle and you won't be able to switch it to others. This roof rack system does have a weight capacity of 150 pounds.

Though you will want to check with your Altima's owners manual to see if your roof can support that much weight. Now we'll give you some clearance measurements. From the top of the roof to the other side of the bar is about three and a half inches. From the top of the roof to the top of the bar is about four and three quarters of an inch. Now that we've got all the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get them set up. I've already got my front cross bar installed on my Altima. The important thing to remember here is the front cross bar is the one with the two vacuum cups on each side.

This always goes in the front. For setting up the rear cross bar, it's really the same as the front. We just have one less vacuum cup on each side. Now the vacuum cups are adjustable anywhere along the cross bar we want. I've already got my set up and tightened down.

All we have to do is set it in place on our Altima. Now, we can put this anywhere we want on our roof, just as long as we've got the distance set up where it's gonna work out best with our accessories. And when positioning the vacuum cups, we want to be sure to avoid any imperfections in the roof, chipped paint, or any seams.Once we've chosen our spot, before we actually mount the vacuum cup, we need to moisten the bottom of it. So I'm just taking a spray bottle with water. Make sure it's plenty moist on each side. We'll just want to double-check our distance between the two. I'm just measuring center-on-center. Looks like we're pretty good. Now we can just put a little down pressure on top of the cross bar and begin depressing the pump cylinder until the orange band disappears. With them both installed, let's give them a little shake and see if they budge. As you can see, they're not moving. We're ready to load up our favorite accessory and head down the road. And that's gonna complete our test fit on the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack System, part number 298-SX6000 on our 2016 Nissan Altima.
