How to Install the Rola Roof Cargo Basket on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be test fitting the Rola roof-mounted cargo basket. Its part number is 59504. We've got the Thule Rapid Crossroads roof rack system already installed on the Cherokee. We're going to begin our test fit by placing our cargo basket directly up onto our load bars. We need to take a quick look to be sure we have our basket centered. It actually looks good.

With that centered, we're now going to take one of the black spacers. We're going to place it in between two of the parallel running bars. We'll want this to be sitting on top of our load bar. We're going to do this in each of the four corners. Now once we have the four of these in place, we'll take one of the black metal upper portions of the clamp and we're going to place it right over the top of where we just put in that plastic spacer. We're then going to take a U-bolt and two wing nuts.

We'll need to remove one of the wing nuts from the U bolt completely. We'll then take the side that still has the wing nut attached, place it through the slot, in that metal clamp and bring the other portion of our U bolt around the under side of our load bar and back up on this side of the clamp. We'll then tighten both of our wing nuts down. That will secure this clamp for us. With that one secure, we're going to move to the three remaining clamps and continue by securing them with our U bolts. We'll then tighten down both of our wing nuts on this clamp.

With those secured, we'll move over to our third location. Upper portion of the clamp to the top. Remove one of our wing nuts from our U bolt. Bring it down and around and up through. With that one secure, we'll move on to our fourth and final one here.

All right. Once we have all eight of our wing nuts tight, we're ready to load our basket up with some gear and we can go heading down the road. As you can see, it took us just over 5 minutes to get that installed. That will complete today's test fit of the Rola rooftop cargo basket, part number 59504 on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee. .
