Review of the Rhino Rack Roof Rack on a 2018 Kia Sorento

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Kia Sorento, we're gonna be test fitting the Rhino-Rack Vortex aero roof rack system. This is gonna be consisting of part numbers RRVA126B-2. These are the Vortex aero cross bars, 49 inches long, and these are black in color. They also come in silver as part number RRVA126S-2. We'll also be using part number RRSX023. These are the Rhino-Rack SRB legs, specifically for the flush side rails that you see on this vehicle. The Rhino-Rack Vortex aero roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your Kia Sorento's roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle.

This can carry anything from bike racks to cargo baskets to ski and snowboard carriers as well. Using the special tool, we can unlock our end cap here and you can see this can be utilized with T-track accessories. What you would do is you would remove the strip, place the T-track accessory in place, cut it to length, and put the strip back in to help cut down that noise.Like most roof racks for these flush mounted side rails, they utilize preordained points to attach them to it. This utilizes only one while others will utilize both holes. From the center of the roof to the bottom of the bars is gonna be about 2 1/2 inches.

From the center to the top is gonna be about 3 3/4 inches. So it's more than enough space in between the bar and the roof here to put those accessories that wrap around the bars instead of utilize the T-track accessory point. This does have a sun roof to it, so just exercise caution if you're gonna use your sun roof while you have things attached to your roof rack system. With both bars combined, they're gonna have a carrying capacity of 165 pounds, but always double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure that your roof can withstand those weights and go by its recommendations. Now we're gonna go over some of the features of the roof rack system. Let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We already have our front bar installed on our vehicle.

We have our rear bar partially assembled here. Our first step is we're gonna take our leg and place it onto our bar. We'll first take our tool here, unlock our end cap and remove it. Then we'll take the leg, place it up, and push it into place, and then we'll replace our end cap, secure it back up, and then we'll take our included keys, make sure it's in the end lock position, so we can loosen it up as necessary and place it onto our flush side rail. Now before we place this on, we wanna loosen this up just enough so this is wide enough to get around our flush mounts here. Then we'll gently set it on the other side.

We'll line it up with the holes. All right, once we got the cross bar overhang measurement even on both sides we can start tightening it down. inaudible 00:02:52 comes to the end here, we'll get it snug first on both sides and then go back and forth and tighten it down evenly for a nice tight fit. With everything tightened up we can now lock them up, load up our gear, and hit the road. And there you have it for the Rhino-Rack Vortex aero roof rack system on our 2018 Kia Sorento.
