Today on our 2012 Kia Soul, we will be test fitting the Rhino-Rack roof system, part numbers DA126 and DK237. To begin our test fit with our roof rack system already assembled, well go ahead and set the crossbars onto the vehicle, and with this particular model, well measure from the door seam to the center of the foot. Our measurement is 310 mm. We will again measure from the drivers side, from the center of the foot to the door seam, that way we can get our crossbar perpendicular to the vehicle. Well go back and forth tightening the bracket up against the vehicle, and get a nice fit. Now that were finish with the front crossbar, well go ahead and set the rear crossbar onto the vehicle.
The crossbar spread for this roof rack system is the measurement from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar, and ours is 700 mm. The crossbar spread is an important measurement as it will determine what roof rack accessories are allowed for this roof rack system. Once you have established this measurement, you will need to tighten down the roof brackets with the Allen key. Once the rear crossbar is tightened down and secured, you can now put the feet face plates on and lock them in position.
