How to Install the Putco Bar Style Bumper on a 2012 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today, on this 2012 Ford F150, we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Putco Bar Style Bumper Insert, part number P86182.Here is what our grill insert looks like installed. As you see, it closes off the opening in our lower grill, giving our truck a much more finished and clean look. By closing off the lower grill opening, we offer more protection from road debris for our inner cooler for our EcoBoost engine. Even though it closes off our grill opening to help protect our inner cooler, the horizontal slats provided by our bar construction still allows adequate airflow to pass through for our inner cooler to function properly. The grill is constructed of a stainless material, which will resist rust over the lifetime of the vehicle. We have a mirror-like finish on it, which complements the factory grill on our Platinum Edition F150. Now, if your F150 is not a Platinum Edition such as this one and has a different color of factory grill, the mirrored finish on this grill will still complement yours nicely.

Now, what sets this grill insert apart from other options on the market is that it fits very well at a very affordable price. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed. To begin our install, we'll open up our hood. Now, we'll take our new grill insert. The shiny side faces out, the brushed aluminum side faces towards your inner cooler. These tabs here go on the bottom, and they'll go into these two slots in your bumper fascia.

We'll push it back like that.Next, we'll be on the other side of the top section of our grill insert. This section here and here are the two tabs that we need to attach to our vehicle's fascia. We'll have a button head screw, which will go up through the grill insert and then through the fascia. It'll get topped off with a flat washer and then our nylon locknut.Okay, once we get it started, we'll get the other one started the same way. Now, we use a 7/16 wrench, and we'll hold the nut still on the top, and then use a 5/32 Allen key to tighten the button head screw. Here's what our hardware looks like once it's tightened down, and that completes our look at and installation of the Putco Bar Style Bumper Insert, part number P86182, on this 2012 Ford F150..
