How to Install the PTC Custom Fit Charcoal Cabin Air Filter on a 2018 Toyota RAV4

Today on our 2018 Toyota RAV4, we're going to be taking a look at showing you how to install the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter. Here you can see there's quite a bit of difference between our new cabin filter and our old one. Now obviously you can see that our old cabin filter is working because it's actually starting to turn brown, but if we open up the pleats, we can see that there are larger pieces that are getting caught in our filter. Which, if those larger pieces get past the filter and make their way into our cooling system, it can do a lot of damage and cause a lot of back pressure in the system. But with our new cabin filter, it's going to make sure that it filters out all those particles and allergens in the air so we can have fresh air, make sure it's healthy when we're inside of our RAV4. Now the real big difference between the one we pulled out and the one we're going to put in, is that the new one is actually a charcoal filter, so it's going to do a lot better with filtering out odors, whether it's smoke or exhaust fumes, than the standard white media filter.Whenever we're driving down the road, car maintenance is typically one of the last things we're thinking about. Usually people remember, "Oh, I need to get my oil changed, and I need to fill up with fuel," but their cabin filter's one of the last things on their mind.

Our cabin filter's going to filter out all the pollutants and allergens so we can enjoy our ride inside. Now there's no need to worry about having somebody else do it because it is an extremely easy process. Let's show you how to get it done now.To begin our installation, we're going to come to the passenger side in the front, and we'll come to our glove box and open it up. Now if we move over to the passenger outside, we're going to have dampener right here. Now the dampener right here, that's just going to control the glove box and keep it from slamming down when we open it up, but we need to remove this rod right here.

If we just grab it and we pull towards the outside, it'll pop off, but it's still attached on the top. We're going to grab each side of our glove box and squeeze in so that these tabs can come past, and we can rotate our glove box down. Once we get it to about this position, we're going to pull out and away and we can sit our glove box down so we don't have to worry about holding it. Behind our glove box, we're going to have our blower motor and then this square panel right above it. On the right side towards the passenger side, we'll have this tab, we're going to press in, and we'll pull that cover out and then pull out and away.Cabin filter will be right inside, we'll go ahead and pull it out, then we can grab our new cabin filter. You want to pay attention to the arrows and the air flow.

We want to make sure that they're pointing in the correct direction. Then we'll slide our cabin filter in, and we can take the door, make sure that arrow's pointing up, we'll slide this section into the small notch inaudible 00:02:51 driver's side, and click the door closed. We'll pick up our glove box, line up those tabs, press it in place, rotate it up, and then we can re-hookup that dampener. Then just take the dampener, just going to press it back on to that rod, and we're ready to hit the road. That'll finish up your look at the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on our 2018 Toyota RAV4.
