How to Install the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on a 2018 Honda CR-V

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. And today you're going to be taking a look at the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on our 2018 Honda CR-V. Now our CR-V has the 1.5 liter in it, so you do want to use the etrailer fit guide, because they will have separate cabin air filters depending on the engine size. Now, a cabin filter's going to do for your car what a furnace filter does for your house. It's going to clean all the air that we breathe in, make sure it goes through the filter, pulls out all those pollutants, allergens, and emissions. Now what it's also going to do is it's going to protect our vehicle because if any larger pieces we're to get down through the system farther, it can cost a lot to fix the fan, the heating system, or the a/c. So we're going to show you how to check the filter, and if it needs to be replaced, we can put the new one in.We'll go ahead and start by coming to the glove box.

We're going to open it up. Now on the passenger's side, we're going to have this little rod here. Just want to push towards the front of the vehicle. It'll pop right off. And we're going to grab each side of our glove box, kind of press inward.

That'll release these tabs here. We can rotate our glove box down. Now if we look inside behind it, we're going to have a little trap door, going to be a little tab on each side. We're going to grab those tabs, we can pull the cover straight off. And we can reach in and grab the filter. Now, you can see the filter is pretty dirty.

It's actually turning gray, so we'll go ahead and replace it. But one thing you do want to pay attention to is it will have an airflow direction on the filter. The new one will have one too. So you want to make sure that the arrows and the airflow's going in the same direction. So we'll slide our new filter in place. Going to replace the cover.

Make sure it locks in. And we'll just rotate our glove box up to those catches, catch on there. Just want to bring that stop on that lever down and then pull towards the back. It's just that easy. There's no reason to pay anybody or go down to the service center, because as you saw you can check and replace your cabin filter in a matter of minutes. But that'll finish up your look at the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on our 2018 Honda CR-V.
