How to Install the Malone SteelTop Universal Roof Rack on a 2017 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're going to be installing Malone's Roof Rack system. This comes with square bars, and they're 50 inch long, with part number MPG201. You can get them 58 inches long, with part number MPG202. This is an economical system, with a lot of premium features. Out of all the roof racks out here, this is one of my personal favorites. This roof rack system is going to allow you to take things inside your vehicle and place them up on top of your roof, freeing up more room inside for passengers.

You can also use this for cargo baskets, bike racks, kayaks, or any of your other favorite accessories. The hook packs will work with your factory raised rails, they'll just clamp right on, making them a nice, quick installation. There's rubber pads located on the inside of the clamp, so it will prevent any scratches or abrasions on your factory raised rails. Unlike many other models, locking end caps come included. One of my favorite things about this roof rack is that it's all one piece.

You pull it out of the box, and it's ready to go. No pre-assembly required. These 50 inch cross bars are going to be able to hold up to 165 pounds through their durable steel construction. They have a vinyl coating that will help increase grip, and prevent corrosion. From the roof to the bottom of the rail is about two and a quarter inch. And from the roof to the top of the rail it's about three and a quarter inch.

While your roof rack is installed, you can still have full functionality of your factory sunroof. What's great about these is they already come pre-assembled right out of the box. You just pull them out, and slap them right on top of your factory raised roof rails. You want to make sure that they're a minimum of 24 inches apart. We've got ours at about 26 and a half.

You want to make sure that they're the same on both sides.Next you want to measure the amount of overhang that you have, and make sure that it is equal on both sides. Next, you want to tighten down your bolt. This will draw the back arm in, clamping it onto your factory raised rails. Then you can install the locking end cap, and with everything tightened down we're ready to load up our roof rack and hit the road. And that completes our installation of Malone's Roof Rack System on our 2017 GMC Acadia.
