How to Install the Longview Custom Towing Mirrors on a 2014 Ram 1500

Today on our 2014 Ram 1500 we're going to be test fitting the Longview Custom Towing Mirrors. This is a pair: one for the driver side, one for the passenger side. Its part number is LVT-3100C. We've just got our box from Etrailer. We're going to open it up so we can give you a pretty realistic idea of exactly how long these are going to take you to get them out of the box and onto your vehicle. Got one mirror there.

They come wrapped up nicely so they're going to protect the finish on your mirror. However, this is a scratch-resistant mirror face. It's manually adjustable so you shouldn't have any issue getting it aligned properly for your line of sight. It's made of a durable ABS plastic material that won't fade or crack over time. They come pre-assembled with the foam pads in the appropriate spot so you know you're going to get a good fit on your vehicle. We have a hardware kit.

Inside of the hardware kit there's going to be two wing nuts and two hooks. Two hooks, two wing nuts. We'll grab one of each. If you see on the back side here, it's a nice flame-style pattern. This part of it kind of looks like the head of a bird to me with an eye in it.

You want your bird, it's next to be facing downward. Thats the way you can identify your left and right. We'll get our downward facing bird, go to our driver side. We're going to slide the hook through and we're just going to thread our wing nut on there. They came together so you know they fit together; there we go. We'll then slide our mirror on.

Want to take a look to be sure that edge is all the way around the lip of our mirror, bring our hook around the front, and then come on around here to the back, and we simply tighten that wing nut down. With that one secure let's make our way around to the passenger side where we'll install this one as well. As you can see, I just threaded my hook through with the wing nut. Got the bird downward facing there. Slip our mirror right on the end. I can feel from the this side. Yep, it's going all the way around. Bring our hook around and tighten it down. As you can see, the rotating feature of our mirror has not been affected, nor has the actual view from our mirror. The only thing this towing mirror is going to do is make it a little easier for you in your everyday towing needs to see when you're parking, switching lanes, backing up, things like that. It's not going to affect our normal mirror. With both of them installed we're going to go out and show you what they look like going through our test course. Now let's go through the slalom, our alternating bumps, and our straight bumps. That will complete today's test fit of the Longview Custom Towing Mirrors, part number LVT-3100C, on our 2014 Ram 1500. .
