How to Install the Longview Custom Towing Mirrors on a 2010 GMC Yukon

Today we're going to take a look at and show you how to install, the original custom towing mirrors. These are a slide on style sold as a pair from Longview, part number is CTM1600. Here you'll see our view of our factor mirror. It works out great until we get out here to the outer region. This is where our towing mirror's going to take over and help to extend our view out here, where we can really see what's going on with our trailer. These Longview towing mirrors do a great job of making trailering a little bit easier. They're going to extend our field of view allowing us to change lanes, park, navigate around town just a little bit easier.

The face of the mirror, as you can see, is going to be manually adjustable, so we can customize it to any view. The mirror securely fits around the outside of the mirror here, so it doesn't mess with any of our factory features. Maybe like in this case, it's got a blinker in it. It's got the lane departure warning. It's got the heat in here.

It's got the tilting power mirrors from the inside. None of those features are going to be inhibited by the use of our mirror. It's a scratch resistance mirror face, as well. So we're not going to have to worry about it wearing over time and being hard to see through. It's not going to interfere with any kind of fold in feature, like the power fold feature, or the tilt-in break-away mirrors. Very durable AVS plastic housing.

It's going to be UV resistant, so it's not going to fade over time. Also going to be long lasting and a nice product. Now that we've gone over the features, let's take a look at how to get it installed on your vehicle. You want to clean up your mirror, make sure that you don't have any dirt, or salt, or any kind of debris that's going to cause any kind of abrasion, and then we're going to slide our mirrors right on. Now as you can see, already pre-fit are going to be all the pads, pieces of felt any where that it makes contact. There's one small piece of felt you'll have to add, and that's right here on our connection mechanism. Basically, what these spacers are going to do is one protect the mirror.

But they also hold them in place, and they're going to guard against vibration and noise as we're heading down the highway. Now to put them in place, we're just going to slide them on. I'm going to just kind of guide the bottom lift to the front side of the mirror, the top lift on the top side of the mirror, and we'll push them in until we feel the stop. We can then bring the hook portion around to the front side of our mirror, and allow it to come right around the front, as you can see there. Let me tilt this in, now it's just going to be a matter of tightening both of your knobs down a little bit so it gets a nice secure fit, nice secure grasp on there. You can see with everything tight, we'll have a nice secure fit for our mirror. So you can see it moves up and down no more than the factory mirror does. That's not wiggle coming from the mirror, these are pretty much moving as one unit there. Just a really nice easy way to add a mirror, extend your view, make trailering a little bit easier for you. Now that we've seen what they are and how they're going to fit, that'll complete today's look at the original custom towing mirrors from Longview, part number CTM1600 on our 2010 GMC Yukon. .
