Today on our 2012 Kia Soul we'll be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa aluminum bike carrier, part number S102. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, turning the black handle located at the base of the carrier to engage our anti-rattle device. Now let's go over a few clearance measurements to see how the vehicle and this bike carrier fit together. There is about 9 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about 1 1/2 inches. We've added about 14 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.
To access the cargo area pull the gold handle located at the base of the carrier and tilt the carrier toward you. This will allow you to have access to your cargo door. To load the bike first unfold the frame hook and extend the frame hook and undo the cradle strap. Sit the bike onto the wheel cradles and tightly secure the frame hook just before the front caliber. Then secure it with the cradle strap.
