Review of the Kuat Alpha Hitch Bike Rack on a 2012 Kia Soul

Today on our 2012 Kia Soul we'll be test fitting the Kuat Alpha aluminum bike carrier, part number A103-WHITE-114. To begin the test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch tube and turn the black handle located at the base of the carrier to engage our anti-rattle device. Now let's go over some clearance measurements to see how the vehicle and this bike carrier fit together. There is about 9 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about 6 inches. We've added about 14 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.

To access the cargo area pull the silver safety pin located at the bottom of the carrier and tilt the carrier towards you. This will allow you to have access to your cargo door. To load the bike first make sure that the mast is in its upright position, pull the silver safety pin located at the top of the mast, and pull the cradle arms toward you. Secure again with a silver safety pin and undo the cradle straps. Sit the bike onto the frame cradles and secure it with the cradle straps.

That concludes todays test fit for the Kuat Alpha aluminum bike carrier, part number A103-WHITE-114, on our 2012 Kia Soul.
