Review of the K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors on a 2016 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ford F150 Super Cab we're going to be doing a test fit on the K Source Universal Towing Mirrors. They're a clip on style, and they come in a quantity of two, part number KS3891-2. They offer us a wide field of view. They're going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or a camper. As you can see I'm visible in the towing mirror, but now the factory mirror. Now if I take a few steps in towards my trailer as you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up, but right here is the view you get with just your factory mirror. The best thing about this kit is that it comes in a pair.

So not only are you going to get that extra wide field of view on the driver side, you're going to get it on the passenger side too. The mirror itself is a convex mirror, which means that it curves slightly outward, so it's going to give you a fuller view. It's more efficient that way, and it's going to increase safety when towing. The mirror itself can be adjusted most angles. We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side.

By removing the Phillips head screw from behind the mirror we can take the mirror out, turn it to the horizontal position for a different view. Each one of our clips is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. Here on the backside it features two ratchet straps to hold it in place around the factory mirror. They feature large rubber padding, so they don't cause any abrasions or scratches to the backside of the mirror. The mirror measures 7-3/4" tall and 5-1/8" wide. It's made out of a high quality durable black plastic, so it's going stand up to the elements and it won't rust or corrode.A few great things about universal towing mirrors are is for one they're for temporary use.

So you can take them off when you're done towing. Another great thing is since they are universal, if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the household it may work with those as well. Compared to other universal towing mirrors that just use rubberized straps the ratchet straps are going to provide a tighter fit. So here you can see I'm moving the entire mirror and the towing mirror is not coming off. This is going to assure you that it will stay in place on long trips, and it's also going to cut down on vibration. It's going to work with factory mirrors between 4-1/2" and 11-1/2" tall.

It does this by its adjustability. Here you can see how the arms rotate and pivot to accommodate those factory mirrors. The four clips have a unique design to where as the mirror's being tightened they draw in for a secure fit. The ratchet straps themselves are a two piece design. The top portion of the strap is that ratcheting style. The bottom portion of the strap is rubberized to stretch around those larger mirrors. The pad is a soft rubber, it's going to help contour around those housings. Now I'll show you how easy it is to install. First you'll want to make sure that each one of your clips is extended out so you can easily fit it into your housing, and you want to make sure that each one of those clips fits between the housing and the mirror. I'm just going to center mine up. Once you've got it where you want it you can run your straps on the backside. Now when you run your straps you want to make sure that the rubber pad is going to seat nicely on the backside of your mirror, so we're going to put it on in this direction. We'll take the top portion of that strap, we're going to hook it on the clip there and then do the same thing underneath. Then we'll come up to our ratchet, we'll lift up the protective cover and then ratchet down until it's nice and tight. Then we can just repeat the same process with the other strap. With this side being done we can simply just repeat the same process on the other side. When you're all done towing and you're ready to remove it, it's easy to do. Underneath you're two covers we've got some buttons, push in, and then we can slide it right off. That's going to complete our test fit on the K Source Universal Clip On Towing Mirrors. They're a clip on style, and they're sold in a quantity of two. Part number KS3891-2, on our 2016 Ford F150 Super Cab.
