Today, on this 2005 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab, we're going to install Part Number HM40975. This is the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector with Mounting Bracket. Typically, this part can be used as a replacement on your vehicle. However, in this case, even the original is completely missing, but we do need this original OEM socket to make it work. If you have this on your vehicle, you should be good to go. Now it's a good idea to make sure that you have this completely cleaned out, as best as you can. Let's go ahead and just set this aside for now, and we'll go ahead and mount our bracket for our 7-pole connector. Mounting your bracket is a matter of personal preference. I like using this location right here for our two holes will line up this part of the steel in the bumper.
It uses these self-tapping screws that we can use to go right into the material. I'm going to hold it where I want it, and then I'll go ahead and use a marker, or you can scratch a hole if you want. We have our two marks. We'll go ahead and install our self-tapping screws first and then throw in our bracket. For the hardware, you'll need a half-inch socket. Let's go ahead and install our bracket. Let's go ahead and run the wire harness to where we want it, over to hitch, run it through the bracket just to hold it for us for now. Then we'll go ahead and add some dialectric grease to protect the contacts.
We're using Part Number 11755 from LubriMatic. We're packing her pretty good. Then we'll take our 7-pole connector and push it into place. Once we push it through, we could go ahead and snap it into place. Now we'll go ahead and take a moment to zip tie our wire to keep it safe, secure, and out of the way. It is a personal preference on where you zip tie it. I'm using this hole up here and a long zip tie.
Now the zip tie doesn't come with it, so you definitely want to get some extra zip ties for the job, if you need them. All right, and that will finish it for Part Number HM40975 on our 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. .
