Review of the Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks on a 2020 Mazda CX-5

Andy: Hello everyone. Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're going to take a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Rack on our 2020 Mazda CX-5. If you're looking for a bike rack to install that's going to be easy and lightweight, maybe something that you can do by yourself, this would probably be one of the better options. Taking a look at the simplicity of this design as well, there's only three contact points to hold your bike secure. With that being said, having this 360 movable frame mount point you'll have different options for different style of bikes. With only having those three contact points that are holding the bikes secure, let's go ahead and take it off now and I'll show you that.I like to take off the front and rear wheels first.

With the self ratcheting straps we're just going to remove that. Remove this one as well. And with it secured to the mast here we will hold the bike with one hand and remove the strap like so and just lift over the rack. The only downside to this rack is going to be it does not have a tilt down option. But if you we're to access or needing access to the hatch here, what you can do is remove this bolt.

There is a wing nut on this side. You will lift this bar up. I like to tighten this wing nut that way I don't lose it. And then just lower the mast and secure with one of the self ratcheting straps. And from there now we can just go ahead and open up our hatch and there's nothing in the way to obstruct that from happening.Let's take a look at the cradles here.

They are made out of a nice, solid plastic. They will accept any type of road bike style tire, or up to 3" as far as the width for a standard bike tire. Let's take a look at this plastic sleeve over our ratcheting straps. That's just there to protect whenever you're ratcheting your bike wheels down. Now let's take a look at some measurements as far as clearance that we have from the vehicle.

First one we're going to look at is the back of the rear bumper to the post, looking at 24-3/4" and for ground clearance, we're just going to measure it in the bottom of where the shank starts to move up. We're looking at almost 11" there. Now whenever we want to lift to the rack up into the upright position, whether we're going to store the vehicle in our garage or when you're needing to park in a tight street, there is a pin you will remove just like so, and there is a knob that's here on the side to remove that pin. From there we would just lift up and you will need to align the hole with the pin, make sure to secure down and then you will then re-install the clip. Now as far as clearance, whenever it's in the upright position we're going to look at the furthest point from the back bumper here. It's going to be about 14-1/2". Now the closest point from the bumper to the rack itself about 6-1/2".And this rack can be used on either 1-1/4" hitches or on 2" hitches as seen here. The adapter sleeve is included. The anti-rattle hitch pin bolt is included as well. If you we're interested in a lock that can be purchased. One feature that is nice about this rack being extremely lightweight is it is easy to install and uninstall yourself. It is compact as well. So if you needed a place to store just the rack, you could have the option of putting it in the hatch. And that's a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Rack for our 2020 Mazda CX-5.
