Today on this 2012 Toyota Corolla, were going to be test fitting the Glazier Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number PW1034 from Glazier Chains. Well be working with a tire size of 205/55-R16. Two things to know about the snow chain is that, its constructed from case harden low carbon steel. The spring rollers are wrapped around our sturdy wire cross cables. It is designed for all vehicles with limited wheel well clearance as well. This will work on front well or rear wheel drives.
Now this vehicle well be working with the front axle. To start off, well go ahead and layout our chain on the ground and inaudible 00:00:35 how it should be laying on the tire. Well take a look at the cross cables where youll see where it connects to the cable goes around the edge of a tire. You want to make sure that hooks are facing up away from the tire. While the chain is off the tire for now, well go ahead and show how the ends connect together. Well go ahead and take the key hole connector on one end and then thread the rest of the cable through the other. Now youll notice the other end of the cable has different knobs attached to the cable itself.
When you have it on the tire, youll go ahead and pull it though as tight as possible and use the key hole connector to fasten it. Further down from the key hole connector is actually another loose one to hold the excess cable. Now once you have this fitted to your vehicle tire size, it may be a good idea to go ahead and cut off the excess cable.Lets go ahead and put it on our tire now. Well go ahead and drap over the top of the tire first, then well go ahead and tuck it around the bottom of the tire as best we can. Well go ahead and drive forward just a little bit until we have the ends free and we can connect them easily.
Were going to work on the inside first. Well run the cable through the key hole connector as far as we can and then well go to the outside and repeat the same process. Now we want them as equal as possible on both sides. Now on the inside you may use five knobs and on the outside you may use up to four knobs, it just depends on the tire. If you have the count within one you should be okay.
This may take a few tries to figure out and make sure its even on both sides. Now our chain is installed and now well go ahead and add a chain tensioner. It does not come with the part number, this is sold as part number PW100. Theyre very easy to install, has five hooks and well try to get them as even as possible around the tire. Well take the hooks and wrap around the cable on the snow chain and make sure your hooks are once again pointing away from the tire. That is all it takes to install snow chains. There you have it for part number PW1034 from Glazier Chains. .
