Today on our 2016 Kia Sedona, we will be taking a look at and installing the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number PW1046. We will be working with tire size 235/60 R18. Here you can see the ladder pattern on the vehicle and how it's going to assist with those starts and stops. The heavy duty steel cable is going to add extra durability on the road. These are going to be SAE Class S tire chain rated, with spring rollers that are going to be wrapped around that sturdy, wire cross cables. Now let's go ahead and see how they're installed. Always make sure that you put these on your drive wheels.
First thing you want to do when you pull your chains out of your bag is to go ahead and make sure that you lay them out flat. Make sure that you don't have any kinks, binds, tangles, or frays in any of the cables, links, or ladders. Then we'll go ahead and place it over the tire. Again, making sure that flat part is going to be against the back of the tire or side wall of the tire. You're going to slide it over the top and just get it as even as possible.
The bottoms should almost touch the ground on both sides. Then we'll go ahead and bring it under and connect the link. We'll need to do the backside first. Slide the cable through and get it through as many links as you can. We're going to go on the fifth link.
So one, two, three, four, five. Then we'll place our cable stay on to make sure that it doesn't go anywhere, it doesn't fling around on the inside of our wheel. Now we'll go ahead and go over to the other side and do the outside. Again, making sure that flat part against the side wall of the tire, bring the link back. On the back, when we had it on the fifth one, so let's try and get it to the fifth one if we can. We just can't quite get it there no matter how much we pull on it.
So the fourth one's going to do all right because I said plus or minus one so you want to either have it on the fourth one or the sixth one. Put the cable stay on there. That'll be our snow chains on our wheel and tire. Pewag does offer the cable tie tensioner, which is going to add quite a bit of stability to our tire chains. That's going to be part number PW103 and it should look something like so. You're going to have six little tentacles or cables coming off to the side of it. We'll hook it on to where the backside of the hook is facing the wheel. We're going to go in criss-cross pattern all the way around, just like so. That will do it for our review and installation of the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number PW1046 on our 2016 Kia Sedona.
