How to Install the Roadmaster 4-Wire Connector on a 2003 Honda Element

Today on this 2003 Honda Element, we're going to install part number RM-910030-1. This is a Road Master 4-wire connector. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and remove the original connector that's on our vehicle. In this case, it's a 4-pole flat, so we'll simply just cut off the end. Then we'll go ahead and take apart the 4-wire connector. We'll take out 1 screw in the top, and then push the insides out the front.

When we take it apart, we'll have the inside for the connectors, and a small soft plastic band. Now we'll take the outside part of the connector and push it over the wires, and push it pretty far back. Next, we'll go ahead and take the soft plastic ring and slide it on the wires as well. We'll use the lid to keep tension on the wiring and hold everything in place. Now we'll go ahead and strip back our wires. We'll go back about 1/4", and then twist the ends of the wires.

We'll go ahead and install our wires into the terminals on the inside. Loosen up the screws and they simply slide in. Starting on a pin on the left-hand side, on top, we'll install our yellow wire for the left turn. Across from that on the top will be our right turn. Looking from the outside in, we should make sure that we have our white wire on the left-hand side, and our brown wire on the right-hand side.

Okay, once we've double-checked everything, we'll go ahead and slide the plastic ring back over the connectors. Then we'll follow it up with some electrical tape. Then we'll push the whole assembly together and make sure that our screw hole on the inside part lines up with the screw hole on the outside part. Then we can go ahead and reinstall our screw. With that, our electrical connection is complete. Now we need to go ahead and install it to our base plate.

Now this base plate has 2 rods coming out from the center to hold an electrical connector. So we'll use those accompanying parts to help hold our 4-pole bracket in place, since this part number does not include any hardware to install it to any type of bracket. So we'll use existing hardware to make our connections, and then tighten it down for good. And with that our electrical connector is fully installed. And that will finish it for part number RM-910030-1 from Road Master, on our 2003 Honda Element. .
