How to Install the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit on a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Pop in Gooseneck Hitch Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit here for a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3,500. So this is everything we're going to get with our kit here starting out with the carrying case. So the carrying case is a nice heavy duty plastic here and you can see everything is molded to the shape of our component. So it's gonna fit in there nicely. It's not gonna be rattling around and when we're not using everything we're gonna keep this inside the vehicle. So everything's there.

We know where to find it when we do need it. Maneuvering our way over here, we're gonna have our gooseneck hitch ball. So this is gonna be a two and five 16 inch diameter. That's the most common and standard size of gooseneck hitch ball. So chances are it's gonna be the one you need.

And our hitch ball also has a chrome plated finish here which is gonna help protect the metal underneath there from any rust and corrosion issues. Now we do recommend keeping a light coat of grease on the hitch ball and the locking mechanism down here just to ensure you don't have any issues with premature wear or the hitch ball, actually getting stuck. Over here we have a little rubber cap that's gonna install into the gooseneck hitch opening on our truck when we don't have our hitch ball in there just to keep everything free of dirt and debris. So we don't have any issues again with rust or corrosion and then up front here we're gonna have our safety chain loop. So these are gonna be hooked into the truck bed there.

We're gonna hook our safety chains up to these as required by law. There's a nice large opening there. That's gonna accommodate a few different size clevis hooks and they have a black powder coated finish to protect them again from rust and corrosion. Now, in regards to fit this kit here is gonna be specific for models to be factory prep package. Now the factory prep package is composed of four puck openings.

Along with a center gooseneck hitch opening in your truck bed. It's pretty easy just to look in there and determine whether or not you have it. If you guys don't have those puck systems then you're actually gonna need to purchase an entire underbed gooseneck hitch which do have here at E trailer. Now in regards to capacity of our kit here it's gonna be 38,000 pounds which is how much we can pull on our fully loaded trailer. Now that is going to exceed the capacity of the truck there. So you shouldn't ever have any issues worrying about exceeding the capacity of the gooseneck hitch. Now that we've gone over the kit a little bit let's go ahead and show you how easy it is to install in your truck bed. So to start our installation, we're gonna first start by removing our center puck cover. If you guys have one, go ahead and just pull that out. Pretty easy. Shouldn't need any tools. And this is the actual socket for our gooseneck hitch that we're gonna be installing our hitch ball into. Now, right now, the hitch ball is locked. So we shouldn't be able to install this into the gooseneck hitch and you can see we can't. In order to unlock it. It's very easy in the center of the hitch ball here. We're gonna have this little lever or this latch and you're actually just gonna pull that up and then you can rotate it to either direction to stop it from re-engaging. And then now since the hitch ball is unlocked we should just be able to drop it in place, like so very easy orientation does not matter. Now, the only thing we have to do is realign our little lever here and then push it down. And now we wanna test it that it's locked into place by just grabbing a hold of the hitch ball and pulling upNow for our safety chain loops. For starters, you wanna make sure you're installing them in the pucks closest to the tailgate, but we're again just gonna go ahead and remove this cover here. Just get your fingers under there and pull it off. And now we're gonna have a little Lynch pin at the top of our safety chain loop. We're just gonna open that, slide it out. And this is also gonna allow us to remove our hitch pin. Now we're gonna take a look at the bottom of the safety chain loop and we're basically just gonna be lining that orientation up with a puck in our truck bed there and we're going to line it up, push it down and then we're gonna rotate this so that the opening is facing towards the tailgate. Now we're gonna take our hitch pin, drop it in the backside just like so, and then re-install our pin, close it. And then we'll just do that exact same thing on the other side. So we've got everything hooked up here in order to remove it. It's very easy. It's just basically the same steps in reverse. So for the hitch ball flip that tab open, rotate it, pull out and then for the safety chain loops, remove your pin here lift out the hitch pin, rotate and pull out but that's pretty much it today for our look and installation of the Curt Pop-in Gooseneck Hitch Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit here on a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3,500..
