Review of the Curt Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche

Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche we'll be test fitting the 24x60 Folding Cargo Carrier from Curt, part number c18132. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. Line up the pin hole and install our pin and clip. Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have about 16 inches of ground clearance. With the cargo carrier in the folded position we've added about 11 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and pull the pin and clip at the base of the carrier to unfold our carrier.

We'll reinstall the pin and clip and go over a few more measurements. We have a ground clearance here at the rear of the carrier of about 21-1/2 inches. The closest part of the carrier to the rear of our vehicle is 8 inches. We've added 38 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and lay our tailgate down. It sits nicely above the cargo carrier making no contact. We have about 2 inches of clearance between our tailgate and our carrier.

The exhaust system on this model exits and points towards the passenger side of the vehicle. Please be aware that depending on the model of the vehicle you have, exhaust location may be different. This is important to know when carrying heat sensitive materials. That completes our test fit of the 24x60 Folding Cargo Carrier from Curt, part number c18132 on our 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche.
