Review of the Convert-A-Ball 6-Way Multi-Hitch Ball Mount on a 2008 Nissan Frontier

Today, on our 2008 Nissan Frontier, we'll be test-fitting the Convertible Six-Way Multi Hitch Ball Mount, part number CAB-6W. This ball mount features six different towing methods. There are three ball sizes of 1 7/8, two-inch, and 2 5/16, and there is also the ability to use a Clevis lunette ring or spade hitch as well. Now, the first thing that we want to do is measure out hitch height. That's from the ground to the inside top of our receiver tube. Our Frontier has a hitch height measurement of 17 inches.

Now, keep in mind that this measurement will vary some even within 2008 Frontiers. Variances in tires, exact model type, and after-market parts, even the hitch itself, will determine the hitch height. Make sure you measure your particular vehicle. Now, this ball mount does not offer a riser drop, so the trailer height will need to match the hitch height at 17 inches. The trailer height is measured from the ground to the bottom edge of the coupler when the trailer is sitting level.

Now, to use the ball mount, we'll insert the shank into the receiver tube of the hitch, one at the hitch pinhole, and secure the mount with the standard 5/8-inch pinning clip. Now, we'll measure form the ground to the top of the shank where the ball is welded and we'll get out 17-inch measurement. To use a different towing method, all we have to do is remove the pinning clip, slide the ball mount out and turn it to whatever method we need. Then we will reinsert the ball mount and use the pinning clip again to secure it.
