How to Install a Cipa Towing Mirrors on a 2012 Gmc Acadia CM11980

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 GMC Acadia, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the CIPA universal fit towing mirror, part number CM11980.Here at the back of the trailer, you can see we have plenty of visibility in our factory mirror. But if I step outside, we lose that visibility in our factory mirror, but gain it in our towing mirror. Now, this is gonna help with parking, passing, and changing lanes in multiple lane highways. This is what our mirror looks like when it's installed. Now, this mirror is gonna be fully adjustable back and forth, up and down, and you can also turn it to give you a much wider view. Along with that, you also have a knob right here that you can extend it. Now, the mirror itself is gonna have hard plastic casing, it's gonna stand up to the weather, along with the connection points that connect to or mount to your factory housing on your mirror.

They are made of a durable plastic. The foot pads have rubber feet on them so they don't harm the finish on your factory mirror housing. The rod itself is gonna be metal. It's gonna have a powder coat finish to resist any rust or corrosion. One thing I really like about this mirror, not only that they're easy to put on, but you maintain full adjustability of your factory mirror, and when you're parking in tight places, you can fold your mirror in and it doesn't make contact with your vehicle. Now I'll show you how to get it installed. You're gonna have two locations which are gonna mount to your factory mirror. You can see it's gonna have little rubber feet on it, and it's gonna have two knobs on the top that tighten it down onto your factory mirror housing.

The way we do that is we take this bottom side, we're gonna raise up the footpad, take the bottom slide and we're gonna slide it between our factory mirror and the housing. So, we'll simply slide it in, just like that, and we'll take our two knobs. Then we'll tighten into place against our housing. That's gonna secure our mirror. That'll do it for a look at and installation on the CIPA universal fit towing mirror, part number CM11980 on our 2012 GMC Acadia.
