How to Install a CIPA Clamp On Universal Fit Towing Mirror on a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox we are going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CIPA Universal Fit Clamp On Towing Mirror. It is available as a single or as a set.So here I am in the back of my trailer. Now you can clearly see me in the factory mirror, but if I we're to step away, you're going to lose track of me. And that's where our towing mirror's going to come into play. It's going to give us a much wider field of view so we can safely get down the road. Because whether we're going down the highway, we need to change lanes, or possibly park our trailer, the more area we can see the better.Towing mirrors are going to help us out a lot.

They're going to see what our factory mirrors can't see. So when we're towing a trailer we can safely change lanes without having to worry about sticking your head out of the window and looking behind us.Now this particular mirror, if we come to this knob right here, we'll loosen it up. And we can actually extend our mirror out a lot farther. We're going to extend the mirror out or pull it in closer to get the angle we need.We simply just tighten up the knob. I'm going to lock that into position where it won't extend or retract anymore.

And we're going to have full adjustability of the mirror because it's going to be on a 360 degree swivel, so if we angle it up or down, left or right, or even diagonally, we we're able to get that perfect viewing angle. Now the way our mirror's going to attach is it's going to attach to the mirror housing. It will have these rubber pads here. They're preventing at how scratches or abrasions, and notice how these two turn knobs, they're going to clamp down and hold it in place. Now we've all been in those situations where we need to fold those mirrors in whether it be we're parking or just in a really close quarter situation. We're still going to be able to fold our mirror in without having to remove the tow mirror. Now one thing a lot of people are concerned about when using a universal mirror is if the housing is going to interfere with adjusting the factory mirror. But as you can see, I can still get full adjustment and full range of motion out of my mirror so I don't have to worry about sacrificing that.Even our outside turn signal as well as our lane departure system is still going to work, so we're not going to have to worry about our towing mirror interfering with any of the factory systems. One of my favorite things about the mirror is the fact that they are universal.

So if you have several different vehicles that you tow with in your family, chances are this might fit as well. But now that we've seen what our mirror looks like and gone over some of the features, let's show you how easy it is to get installed. To begin installation we're going to want to grab our mirror and we'll come to the two turn knobs on top here. And we want to loosen these up. We don't need to remove them. We just want to make sure it's loose enough so this thin section can go in between our mirror housing and the mirror glass itself. We'll take our mirror.

We can line it up, and we'll slide it into place. We just want to make sure the small tabs fit in there and that the rubber pad is sitting on top of the mirror housing. I want to make sure it's seated in there all the way. I'll tighten down our two knobs and make any adjustments we need to on our mirror and we're ready to hit the road. That will finish up your look at the CIPA Universal Fit Clamp On Towing Mirror on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox.
