How to Install a CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror on a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Today our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Cipa Universal clip-on towing mirror. Now it is available as a single mirror and a set.So here I am at the back of my trailer. Now you can clearly see me in the factory mirror, but the problem's going to be when I step away, you're going to lose track of me. But that's where towing mirror's going to come into play. It's going to give us a much wider field of view, so we know exactly what's going on.

'Cause let's face it, when we're pulling a trailer, the more we can see, the better. Whether we're going down the highway and need to change lanes or even back up our trailer and pull it to the campground. Now the towing mirror itself, it's going to be seven and a half inches tall, by five inches wide. So we're going to have a really large mirror to see exactly what's going on behind us and since it's on a ball socket, we're going to have a full 360 degrees that we're going to be able to adjust it. Whether it be side to side, up and down, or diagonally. Now the way our mirror's going to attach, it's going to have these four tabs, they're going to fit in between our housing and our mirror glass. Then we're going to have some straps that are going to be attached to it that will hook around the back and secure on top.

Then there'll be a couple rubber straps that are going to go around the back of our mirror and hook on top. Now these are rubber straps so you don't have to worry about any abrasions or scratches on the paint. One thing a lot of people are concerned about when it comes to universal towing mirrors is that they're going to interfere with their factory mirror. But you can see, we are still able to adjust our mirror to get that perfect angle when we're driving down the road. And as you can see, we can still use our factory turn signal on the outside, and our lane departure system is gonna work, so we're not going to have to sacrifice any of the factory functions on our Equinox. Now we've all been in those close-quarters situations where we need to fold our mirror in. Now we still can with our towing mirror attached, but keep in mind, that once we get extremely close, the bottom arm is going to make contact with the door. One of my favorite things about these mirrors is the fact that they are universal.

So if you have several different vehicles that you tow with in your family, chances are this might fit that, too. But now that we've seen what our mirror looks like and gone over some of the features, let's show you how easy it is to get installed. To begin our installation, we'll grab our mirror, and I want to make sure the arms are open, and then we can come to the front side of our factory mirror. So these two small tabs, maybe two on the bottom and two on the top. These are going to fit right in between the mirror housing and the mirror glass itself. So when you rest the bottom one right on the edge, then we'll bring the arms down so the top ones can rest. I'm just going to hold this loosely with my hand, bring the rubber strap around the back, and then hook it on top.If you need to make any adjustments to your strap, we can either lengthen it or shorten it to make sure that it has nice secure grip and it's not going to move around on us.

So now we're just need to make any kind of minor adjustments to our mirror so we can clearly see our trailer and we're ready to hit the road. That'll finish up your look at the Cipa universal clip-on towing mirror on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox.
