Installation fo the Carr Custom Fit Side Steps on a 2015 chevrolet Silverado 2500

Today, on this 00:00:00 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Crew Cab, we're going to install part number CARR103994. This is a car custom fit side step Hoop II. Our first step is find our center location for our step. It's recommended in the instructions that you look at the front edge of the seat and trace your way down, we'll make a mark. The center is about right here. Next, we're going to go ahead and loosely assemble 00:00:27 our step to your brackets and hold up into place and double check the placement to make sure we have plenty of metal to metal contact because the inside edge of the pinch weld is a little uneven as well as the backside on the body work. We inaudible 00:00:42 brackets on already.

We'll go ahead and show you how it's loosely installed. Basically, we'll put our bracket in place. Use a 5/16 bolt and a flat washer and 00:00:57 the head of the bolt in the outside to the inside. Now, to the other side and then, we'll get a flat washer and a lock nut. Now, you can see a series of holes right here.

For our particular vehicle, the instruction has recommended this hole here, so inaudible 00:01:23 and line it up, install hardware. Now again, we just want to loosely install it because eventually we're taking it apart. Here's a mark right here and we hold up the step about center and you see how it overlaps this gusset 00:01:48 right here. We found out, if we actually move all the way over to the other side and made a bracket line up to side of this gusset 00:01:56 here, we have all the flat sheet metal we need to attach to. It's just a little bit off from the center, but I think it works out pretty good. All right, we're going to take our brackets back off our step and we'll go ahead and hold it up into place.

We'll then look for the hole right here on our bracket and you've seen where we made a mark right here so we know our location for our hole is. We'll go ahead and measure over 8-1/4 inches. We'll make a second mark here. We'll go ahead and slide it over to other mark, double check and see we have flat sheet metal for our top attachment point. Our next step is to go ahead and measure off for our hole that will be drilled right here. From this edge, going this way, we need to measure 3/8 of an inch.

Now, I know where to drill. We'll go ahead and make a pilot hole first with a 1/8 inch drill bit, then we'll follow it up with 5/16 drill bit. Let's go ahead and install our brackets with these bolts. We use a small 5/16 bolt and a flat washer. Install from here and we'll also put a bracket into place. After it goes through to the bracket, we'll get another flat washer and then a nut. Now, since we're dealing with a round hole, not a oval inaudible 00:03:46 like that. We will go ahead and optionally use just a nut. It looks like the angle is inaudible 00:03:52 taking up too much of the bolt. Once we have our hardware started 00:04:19, we'll go ahead and tighten them down hand tight and then, we're going to work for attachment points on top. We'll go ahead and tighten down this hardware with a half-inch socket wrench. It looks like the nut will press against the bracket, kind of lock itself in as well. I think we have good time to go ahead and inaudible 00:04:52 secure with just one bolt. We'll go ahead and take our step and put it back into place. Verify that inaudible 00:04:58 that we wanted to. Once we verify it is still sitting where we want, we'll go ahead and put the rest of our hardware in place. For our top attachment, we'll go ahead and drill an 1/8-inch pilot hole and then, we'll install a sheet metal screw. This is our sheet metal screw and we'll use a 5/16th nut driver to attach it. Okay, brackets are securely attached. We'll go ahead and put our steps into place and tighten down for good. Now, we're finish at our passenger side, basically, we will go ahead and repeat everything on the driver side. Okay, with both steps installed, let's go ahead and try them out. Okay, with that, that will finish it for our install of part number CARR103994, the car custom fit side steps Hoop II on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Crew Cab. .
