Today on our 2012 Kia Sorento well be test fitting part number M2205. This is the Carpod 24 by 48 walled folding cargo carrier for two inch hitches, rated at 450 pounds. Well begin our test fit by sliding the cargo carrier shank into the hitch, lining up the hitch pin holes and installing our hitch pin. We can then put the clip on the other side of the pin which will secure the cargo carrier to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and unfold the platform of our Carpod flat. Well pull the pin, allow the platform to fold down and reinstall the pin.
We can now bring the walls of our Carpod up, and using the included pins, well pin the walls into place. Now with the walls up, we are not able to gain access to our cargo area, so youll simply have to fold the Cargopods walls to gain access to the cargo area. At this point, well give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the back of the Carpod is 13 inches, and from the closest part of the Carpod to the back of the vehicle is nine inches. The Carpod will add an additional 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.
The exhaust on this vehicle exits here at the passengers side, just under the rear bumper. It is approximately 14 inches from the carrier. It sits slightly lower than the carrier itself.
