How to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2002 Ford F-350

Today on our 2002 Ford F350 well be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller, part number 90195-3035P in conjunction with our Hopkins seven and four pole vehicle connection point, part number 37185. Our first step will be mounting our Hopkins seven and four pole bracket to our seven and four pole plug. Using the hardware provided with our install kit we can go ahead and insert the screws and secure it with the nuts. Next well move to the vehicle, then we can take a grinder or a cutoff wheel and remove the bracket for the old connector. Then we can go ahead and take our side cutters, cutting zip ties or wires leading up to the connector. Then we can go ahead and cut it off and strip back the wires.

The black wire with the green tracer will be the signal for the reverse lights for the trailer. Now with all our wires stripped back were ready to go ahead and prepare the new seven and four pole wiring harness. Our four pole plug wont be necessary as well be hardwiring directly to the manufacturers wiring, so well go ahead and cut it off and strip back the wires. Next we can take the purple and white wire. The wire is longer, and were going to go ahead and cut it back to match up with the rest of the butt connectors.

Strip them back and then we can add butt connectors to each end of our bare wires. Now with all out butt connectors installed were ready to go ahead and start matching them up the vehicle. Starting with the vehicle side white wire to white wire on our seven pole. Then well take the vehicle side orange wire, our 12 volt lead, to the black wire of our seven pole. Next it will be the blue wire on the vehicles side to the blue wire on our seven pole.

Then well take the black wire with the green tracer, our reverse light lead to the purple wire on our seven pole and well match color for color on green to green and yellow to yellow for our turn and brake signals. Well take the brown wire, which is standard for this vehicle and a black wire with a white tracer for the aftermarket lights equipped on this application and connect it with the brown wire for our new seven pole. Now with all our connections made well go ahead and use some black electrical tape to wrap up our wires to help keep out dust, dirt and debris from our connections. Now with our wires wrapped up well go ahead and use some self-tapping screws and secure it to the body of the vehicle. Next well move inside the cab of the vehicle.

Here well need to remove the lower kick panel on the drivers side. There are four attachment points. Well turn them, and then we can remove the panel. Now well go ahead and point out the manufacturers port we can plug directly into. Now with our brake controller wire harness connected to the plug well go ahead and route it underneath the dashboard and reinstall the kick panel. Next well go ahead and mount our brake controller bracket using the hardware provided with our install kit. Next well go ahead and take the brake controller harness and plug it into the back of the brake controller. Now we can mount the brake controller to the brake controller bracket. After that well take the excess wire from our brake controller harness and zip tie it up underneath the dash to keep it out of the way. Cutting off the excess from our zip tie this will complete the install of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller, part number 90195-3035P in conjunction with our Hopkins seven and four pole vehicle connection point, part number 37185 on our 2002 Ford F350.

All I wanted was the P/N for the harness for the brake controller to the OEM under dash plug shown in the video. I buy them all the time. I can't find the Ford harness anywhere on your site.
