How to Install the Bestop Soft Lower Rear Half Doors on a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install Bestops rear soft half doors on our Jeep Wrangler. Now these doors are going to work from 2007 to 2017 Jeep Wrangler, and Wrangler Unlimited, and 2018 JK Wrangler and JK Wrangler Unlimited as long as you maintain the factory striker pin.As you can see, these are going to be a half door that's going to allow total air flow throughout the vehicle, but give you the safety of knowing you still have a door in place. Another thing this is going to be good for, going through little puddles. Maybe you're going down a gravel road, this is going to keep all that debris water splash up from getting inside of the vehicle. These are going to come in a quantity of two and are very simple to install. They're going to slide right into our factory hinges.

They're going to be constructed of a metal frame with a canvas cover. The covers come to match our soft top or our original soft top on our Jeep. Each one's going to come with its own handle and lock, to deter someone from coming up and stealing your door. We're going to have a handle on the inside frame that allows us to close the door. And as far as our latch, we're going to have a handle that allows us to open it. Now we've going over some of the features, let me show you how to get them installed.

The first thing we need to do is we need to remove our factory doors. We're going to have a nut here on the bottom side of our hinge that we need to remove. We're going to use a T45 torque spit. Now we need to remove our strap. There was a panel right here on this pillar. On each side, pop that panel off.

We need to unplug this plug here, there's gonna be a red tab that we need to push. It's a locking tab, and we're going to push here, pull it off like that. And then our strap, is just pulled right off the hook just like that. And we're gonna put our panel back in place. And we're gonna rotate our door back and forth until our pins come out of our hinges. Now we're going to set her a door in a safe place. Now each door is going to have some little spacers that come in your kit that you would just slide over the top of these rails here, before you slide them in.

That's just to adjust the height of where your striker pin is. Let's see what it does, what's it like this So you can see here I need push it down. And you can see it doesn't look like we're going to have to use any of our spacers. Looks like we're lined up pretty good, so now we can install our door handle. We're going to have four slits in our canvas, which is nice because we're not going to have to do it, it's already there. We're going to take this in, and we're go in, and it's gonna go towards the back, and we're going to push it in like that. We're going to have four Philips head screws, you're going to feed him from the outside through the slit in the canvas, to the inside. And then we're going to put on a lock nut. And then a Philips head screwdriver and a three eighths socket, or wrench to tighten them in place. Then you're gonna repeat that process on the other side. That's going to complete our look at and installation on the Bestop soft rear half doors.
